Panic Disorder... I want my life back

Hello everyone, I don't usually post in forums so I'm sorry if I'm awkward.

I had my first full blown panic attack in August and now I have one almost every day. I ended up in the ER, then fully hospitalized. I've run the gamut of mental health programs. Partial hospitalization, outpatient, now support groups...
Recently I have had to leave work early or stay home from work. I've missed my friend's birthday celebration because I didn't want to be in public when another panic attack hits out of nowhere.

I feel like I'm losing my life to anxiety. I am in therapy and trying meds... I don't mean to be a complete downer. I have great friends, & a supportive family. I like my job and I'm working on college. I love music, books, writing, video games, walking in nature, spending time and laughing with my friends. I am not always anxious or depressed. I have great things in my life.

I think trauma and stress have caused my panic disorder... Now I want to do what I can to get better, or at least get better at coping and be able to function.

I feel so low, but I want to say hello to folks here and try to be a supportive person to anyone else who experiences anxiety or panic attacks. I hope you're all having a good day. You are not alone and there is hope. Take care

Hi and welcome! It's great that you have support and things you enjoy. They'll make recovery a bit easier. I know what you mean about losing you're life to anxiety (I'm agoraphobic), but it gets better, especially if you work on supporting your body through the stress. I hope you find the combo that works for you!

Been two years for me almost. The first six months were the worst, just awful. But I worked hard and tried so many meds (ugh)but finally on the right road. You will get there too!

    Welcome to the forum!

From a fellow anxietier (is that word?) anxietition lol? It sounds like you are at the point where you need to explore the options on treating your anxiety. It might take a while to find out what works for you but keep hope. As you said you're not alone and the forum can help

85-90% of panic disorder sufferers recover within their first 6 months undergoing the condition, so long as they have therapy.
