This article talks about the nature of bullying, how it appears to manifest in middle school, the sources of it (usually negative things happening in the bully's lives), and how schools fail to address the bullying in their schools. By fostering a sense of connectedness in schools, addressing the children and their problems rather than ignoring them, bullying can be lessened.

While not specifically anxiety or depression-related, this article does mention that bullying can further isolate kids who are depressed or socially anxious, and put them at more risk for substance abuse problems down the road. It also makes an interesting point about teachers gravitating more towards the extroverts, further isolating anxious and socially phobic kids.
