A Scared Mom

I am brand new to this forum. I've never written on this type of board before. My hope with finally talking about my troubles and my anexiety is that it will show me that I am not alone and not crazy. Because there are times that I feel both those things.

I have not always had anexiety issues, it's only been the last 2 and a half years. My son had a stroke on his second day of life and was sent to the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). That threw me for a loop and I have not been the same since.

My anexiety is triggered by medical issues. Does anyone else suffer from this or anything similar?

Thanks for reading. Have a blessed day! [/b]

Hi there,

Welcome to the forum. :-)

May I ask, what are the medical issues? In other words, are they actual medical problems or are you afraid that there is something medically wrong with you?

Hi, Scared Mom,

You've come to the right place. I've had health anxiety which was at least partly feuled by losing both my parents 10 months apart in 2005 & 2006. I know how you feel! Loss or trauma can really throw you for a loop. Even when the situation rights itself, if it does, your nervous system is still on edge.

I'm so sorry to hear about your precious baby. How is he doing now, may I ask?

A Scared Mom - I had a similar situation, my son was born premature and had a heart condition so we were in the NICU for quite some time. My husband says that is when I changed - when our son was born, but I never really thought of that situation being the trigger.

You are certainly not alone. This is a difficult thing to get through.
