what this about carbs and anxiety i mean seriously. i drink tons of sodas a day maybe 8 or so and dont drink anything else maybe 5 bottles a water a months and i have anxiety.... if i cut back on my soda i dont have anxiety although my body is used to having all that sugar all the time. i have anxiety constantly anyways. sugar or no sugar. so is it true that the sugar is whats doing it or is it your mind saying well the reason i have anxiety is because i dont do this anymore or i do this now.... i think that your mind is a very very powerful thing. i am not saying that this cannot happen. but as most of you know anxiety can do crazy things mostly when we blame it on something.... i know all about withdraw symptoms but anxiety really come on..

Someone (i think Kev) had a blog on here all about reducing anxiety and carbs/sugar were on there. It makes sence to me. For instance, I drink alcohol  to ease anxiety and I get my "fix" but then next day I amk batteling with the drop in sugar and it makes me more anxious. *shrugs* I think it's true. Carbs and sugar are like one in the same....

howdy all :D
Anxiety is a hypo system , It is not just a mental problem caused by ones thinking .
If you change your thinking and stop upsetting your system then yes over time your system will settle down.
But why would you stop there . There is many things that hype your system out .
Sugar is a big one because it makes the energy in your body peak and drop . If sugar is removed and your diet is more stable so that you do not get peaks and lows then this is one less thing you have to worry about .
I personally believe that there is way to much put into the fact that anxiety is caused by the way we think , in my mind this is crap and doctors way of saying we don't know what causes it and we shall just blame your thinking . It is a case of the chicken and the egg but seems to be only treated one way . Yes if you have had anxiety for a long time thing your thinking will become ingrained in it. But many many people that have anxiety have not had it long and were fine before it hit .
Before i crashed my thinking was fine , i never and i mean never thought like a anxious person . I don't think there was anything i have ever feared , I am not taking about being scared to talk to that pretty girl or talk in fount of a crowd . What i am talking about are those crap fears that come with hypo systems such as blood , driving , etc . But after my system was placed on high alert from the things i was doing in my life and then drugs were put in there i started to become anxious . I became scared of things that i knew did not scare me , I was not scared but my body was reacting to then because it was on such high alert nothing more . Even now my body reacts to driving even though i can see that there is nothing there to worry about. See it is not my thinking so much causing this but my subconscious mind causing the reaction .
Only you can think back to before you became anxious and decided weather you were a anxious thinker or not . If you were not then you should be working not only on fixing your thinking but you should also be working on the symptoms of the anxiety which could be all that you are reacting to .
Many of these symptoms are automatic in your system , just the same as it is automatic t o sneeze when you have dust up your nose . So i believe what we need to do is removed the cause ( the dust ) so that we do not react to the symptoms in the first place . I beleive that if many of us did not have the symptoms of a hypo system in the first place then there would be nothing to react to and overtime we would start to forget about what we have gone though and slowly heal .
Another thing i believe is alot of harm is the treatment from some. As many would know my life was not easy growing up but this is something i had delt with and made peace with but when people that were treating me kept bring it up again and again and making out that was the cause of my problems . I even started to doubt myself and buy into that crap . Yes i know one part of my past has helped feed this but in no way does it have anything to do with my mum dieing when i was 18 months old .
So what i would say is sit down and have a think about things , you know and dont let anyone tell you other wise what is causing your anxiety . If you cant stop thinking about your past and have always been like this then yes work on gettng past this and any thinking that may be there. But if you are like many i beleive are just reacting to the way you feel now and since your system started on hypo then start doing things to settle that system . This includes removing things that stress your system out and sugar is one of these.
As i said to my doctor the other day . i Dont need to learn how to react to the symptoms , i know that what i need is help so they dont start. If the symptoms are not there then i dont react and go about living my life.
Quick story , My brother in laws brother walked into a police shop and threatened to blow it up . Was over powered and taking to mental hospital . Shaking and highly anxious. Why did he do it , he did it to get help for a mental problem because he could not cope. What was the cause of this mental problem . The 20 cans of red bull he was drinking a day . Once he removed them is system settled and his went back to normal.
cheers kev :D
