Hi all, I am new to this but feel like I need support from fellow sufferers. I have experienced bouts of depression and anxiety for the last 5 years on and off but have always come through the other side. I got sick a few months ago on holiday (some stomach bug) which has lingered and lingered. I am a mother and have founfd it so hard to look after kids whilst being sick. I have become very depressed and extremely anxious about being sick but now I am not sure whether I am still actually sick from the bug or just feel crap because of the constant anxiety and depression. I have been on Effexor 150mg for about 4 weeks and take xanax as required. I wake up feeling anxious and nauseas and then start to panic about feeling nauseas. I feel like I can't breathe, feel sick, feel alone, worry I can't cope, worry I can't look after my kids etc etc. And the cycle continues. I have times in the day when I feel better than others. I am sick of this. My husband keeps saying go back to docs and get a check up for the stomach bug but i really dont know whether there is a stomach bug anymore. I fear its just the anxiety giving me this horrible sick/hole in my stomach feeling. Things just don't feel right. I have had stool and blood tests and all is normal. Anyone else get that horrible constant feeling in their stomach with anxiety? I am now fearing to organise things and see friends in case I have that feeling. HELP

Right when I open my eyes I have butterflies and feel nauseas. Then it goes on all day. I have the feeling I cant breath. I actually had a panci attack today because I was out with friends (which I rarely do) and all of a suddent I felt like my lungs had stopped working! I can totally relate!

Hi mhdwjw
You know it doesn't matter where anxiety starts from as it is all diffrent for us all . But the one thing that is the same with all is fear and being scared , without these two anxiety dies a quick death .
The stomach plays a huge part in anxiety and there is a reason for it . It is built into the body . Let me quickly explain , when we are in flight and fright mode the stomach shuts down , the reason it does this is because when we are in danger we need to react and do it fast . Say we were being chased by a mad dog we don't need to be stopping half way to use the dunny . There is also a huge amount of nerves in the stomach and anxiety being a heightened nervous system of course it will effect it .
I am guessing that this is not the first time you have felt like this, so what did you do to sort it out last time . I also think that because you have had it for 5 years it is the anxiety itself that is feeding your anxiety , maybe you have anxiety towards feeling sick which is something everyone gets but some of us hold on more to it .
Other than the drugs you mention what else have you done for your anxiety in the last 5 years . Have you faced it ? Do you understand it ?
If you want i can send you a site that will help you understand it and i can also direct you to a doctor that would help you to restore the way your body is working . The site also has counseling which i did and would recommend as it is cheaper $80 hour than the price we pay in Australia and also all of them are people that had anxiety and all are trained .
Anxiety can be hard to get over , you have to get yourself out of the circle that you are stuck in but it can be done and you can go on to live your life the way you want to .
I fear its just the anxiety giving me this horrible sick/hole in my stomach feeling. This is not a bad thing . Anxiety is not some death sentence , some major problem we have to live with , something we are stuck with for life . It is just something that happened to us and something we have to get past and move on past . It can be done i did it with no drugs and millions of people did before me . You can do it to .
cheers kev :D

Kev, thanks for the response. In the past I have had more depression than anxiety but this time around its more anxiety. I guess I have gotten through with meds, talking to psychs (although i dont feel they help) and just time. Would love you to send me the site and doctor. Are you from Aus?

HOwdy again
Yep from NSW in the middle of nowhere
Depression sucks , really sucks the life out of you .
I shall pm details on that site , not much on depression but depression and anixety are blood brothers
Go to health food shop and get some Tyrosine and try it . This is what lifted my depression . You may want to check but i dont think you can take it when on anixety drugs .
cheers kev
Owwhh yea!
I can very much relate towards feeling of having a stomach bug. I cant stand it at times. I lose my hunger sometimes and when i eat it dont stay in to long.... I know it has to deal with our nerve system since we are always on the block of anxiety or/and depression. I take xanax as needed and I refuse to take antidepressants. Nothing wrong with taking them but we are all different. I ask for you to keep hanging in there we have made it this far, we can hope that a complete cure will arise at some point in time.
One thing that makes me so confused at times is I have acid reflux and sometimes when it gets out of control it doubles the symptoms that I am already having and gosh at times I feel like I am going insane.... EVERYONE WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS!! EACH AND EVERYONE OF US!!
