How to wean off of Ativan

I`ve only been taking 0.5mg nightly for the past 3 months, but I`m having withdrawal effects from stopping it for one night. How long does it take to wean off this dosage and what should the correct dosage reduction be for how long.

Also what can you subsitute Ativan for to help with sleep that is non habit forming. Any advice would be great!
