Hello,
I'm really desperate to find something to help with my anxiety. I'm open to any suggestions. Thank you in advance to those who share. I don't know anyone else with anxiety. It is only in the last few years that I have felt unable to hide my anxiety.

Hi there and welcome :)
I guess the obvious question/suggestion is have you seen a doctor about it? Some people are able to deal with it alone but I'm not one of them.
All the best,

Welcome
Anxiety is a normal part of life; you'll never fully get rid of it. When it's interfering with your functioning, there's medication, therapy, support groups and a whole host of techniques that can help you. The one thing that helped me the most was someone on here posting about Dr. Claire Weekes. (Was it gypsy? I think it may have been :) ) She's worth looking up. You can find some clips of her recordings on youtube. Learning about acceptance and not adding extra anxiety (what Weekes refers to as second fear) to my anxiety attacks has given me a much calmer life. Anxiety can be difficult and can seem like a mystery to solve but relaxing and letting the wave of anxiety hit and letting yourself move on is incredibly effective, at least for me. What will happen will happen and there's little sense in worrying over the things we cannot control. Bad and challenging things will happen, it only does more damage to ourselves to be overcome with panic over it.
I hope you find relief :)

^Claire Weekes is pretty awesome so it might well have been me :)
There's so much out there on anxiety and depression now. I just got the audiobook of this: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20344354-rewire-your-anxious-brain

Anxiety is not something easy to overcome and people have different ways to cope with it. I personally find identifying the source of anxiety is always the first step. Only then can you start searching for the solution to minimize it. Of course, telling us a bit more about yourself can help since we have very little to work with. If you're shy (I was like that once), maybe just share what you do as a hobby or what makes you happy.
