Hello everyone! I have been suffering from anxiety for years, as well as other mental health problems. I have been looking for a place to just chat with others who could offer insight and share experiences. Sometimes it is just good to get another person's perspective on things. The root of my depression is social anxiety, I just feel so out of place all the time. It also causes me to exaggerate just to 'fit in', and it makes me feel worse. I don't know why I go into this default mode under stress, but hopefully I can get over this soon.

Recently I took steps to stop smoking, and it has been going well. I just didn't realize how much of a crutch it had become, or how much I used smoking just to get through stressful situations. However, I have felt my anxiety spike over the past few days, and being around people is becoming difficult.

Looking forward to speaking to you all!

Where abouts in Scotland are you from?

Thank you for the warm welcome!

I am currently living in Morayshire, but I have lived all over the U.K. It is very cold here at the minute, but I am looking forward to seeing the snow. It really makes my year complete.

I have always wanted to travel to Australia! It is such a beautiful country that captured my imagination when I was little. Is it summer time where you are at the minute? Hopefully I will make the journey someday.

I've been to the UK four times because my dad is from there but only been to England and Wales.

Yes it is almost summer here and warming up. Some parts are beautiful but a lot of it is very arid. I actually felt more "at home" in the UK for some reason.

Anyway, I hope you find this forum helpful :)

Welcome to the forum from Baltimore Maryland USA. I have been to London and Oxford back in 2010, but never Scotland.
You will find this forum helpful and I am happy to hear you stopped smoking.
