View Full Version : Hello
Hi I'm Lana. I'm 22 years old. I've struggled with anxiety and ADHD for as long as I can remember. Lately I've been struggling a lot. I had to put a beloved pet to sleep this week and have been kind of pushed to the edge. I've been so anxious I can't eat or sleep. I came here to get and give support. I made a doctor's appointment, which I actually have in an hour, and an appointment with my old counselor that's scheduled for next week (on my birthday, oh joy.) I don't have many people in my life I feel comfortable talking to about my anxiety. Most don't understand and tell me to "snap out of it." I figured this would be a good place to talk where people understand what I'm going through.

Hey there! Welcome. My name is Lindsey, I am 23 years old and also struggle with anxiety.
I can completely relate with putting an pet to sleep- I had to put my dog to sleep almost exactly a year ago and it was one of the hardest things I have ever done. I wasn't ok for a few weeks, but it does get better. I still miss her sometimes, which is OK though..
I'm glad you are going to see a doctor and get some help. My anxiety seems to go through "stages", I can do really good for a long period of time then all of a sudden sh*t goes wrong and I am not doing well.
Being told to "snap out of it" is the worst. No one here will tell you to do that. Everyone on this forum is really great, they are like a little family to me. :) I hope we can all be the same for you!

I can completely relate, I had to that about 15 or more years ago, and I still cry if I think about it to much, I have not had a real pet since( fish don't count) Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Lana,
Losing a pet is never easy. I hope your doctor's appointment goes well. I think you will find this forum to be a great resource. Hope you start feeling better!
Thanks everyone. The doctors appointment went good. I couldn't get in to my usual doctor but got in to see a different lady. She prescribed me two new medications. Lorazepam as needed for panic attacks (which this week I feel on the verge of having one almost all the time) and buspirone. I was previously on escitalopram and didn't have much relief. Have any of you taken either of the new ones I'm taking?
Also, today I'm actually able to get out of bed/off the couch and clean my house and run errands. I think even just getting a plan in action to help myself has helped me. I don't feel so... Helpless.

Glad to hear the appointment went well. I have not taken those prescriptions, but have also taken escitalopram with little help as well.
Just doing those little chores around the house and running a mundane task outside the house is a BIG step towards reducing anxiety. If it doesn't stress you out I suggest you write things down that you want to accomplish for that day such as mailing a letter, taking a walk, etc. This way you can feel even better when you see yourself cross off that task.
Hope things keep improving for you! :)

Welcome to the forum Lana. I've been on buspirone since December, my doctor added it to boost the antidepressant that I take as well as helping to reduce some of the anxiety that I still had. Some people say that it isn't very helpful for them but I've found that it works well for my anxiety.
Thanks. I'll be starting it tonight. I'm supposed to take it before bed then after a week take it night and morning. I'm hoping it will be helpful.
