Hello all!

I have been on Lexapro for 5 weeks now after switching from Celexa. My anxiety levels have improved but I feel almost disconnected from my body. I just don't feel 100% myself and it's freaking me out. Now i've started convincing myself that I have Depersonalization disorder. Has anyone else felt this way when adjusting to meds?

I'm so glad someone else has felt this way. I'm sure that me overthinking it is making it worse. It just scares me to not feel connected to people around me, family, and friends. I'm going to try to push through and hope the feelings fades.

It is very common, freaked me out too. Just know it is anxiety and let it pass,

But do stay around people within reason of course. Isolation is not good.... : )

Hey Liza
First what the dose of the Lexapro now
second there is a diffrente between the Lexapro and the celexa with the side effects but its depends on the doses .
both medications work on a same idea of reuptake inhibitores of the Serotonin
you can be calm :)

I'm on 20mg of Lexapro, I switched over from Celexa after it apparently stopped working for me. I've been on 20mg for 5 weeks now and although I see some improvements, I still feel anxious most of the day. The most disconcerting part, however, is this feeling of not being myself. I just don't feel completely "there". I'm really hoping the feeling fades. Any thoughts?

When you say I don't feel like myself what is the purpose ? do you feel like a zomby?
maybe the dose now is hige above the level who you need take .
howover I recommend you to call to the physician and tell him\her about those feelings and ask about an option for another medication
good luck Liza! :)

Hi Liza!

I too am going through this. Do you ever think your going insane? That's sometimes how I feel. I had no idea what Depersonalization was until I Googled and that made me worry more. I am also very spacey. I am in the process of trying to find a medicine that works for me. Do you have GAD? Good luck and hang in there! That's what i'm doing!

I've only had two bouts of anxiety in my life, one freshman year of college and the one I'm going through now. I just finished week 6 of Lexapro and am still feeling not quite right. I'm anxious because I don't feel like myself, even when I'm around those I'm closest to. It's such a scary feeling. I talked to my doc about it and I might go down to 15mg if the feeling doesn't go away in another week. Just feeling very run down by the whole process and losing steam. I just want to feel like myself again. If anyone has had a similar experience I'd love to heard.

Depersonalization and derealization are both symptoms of anxiety, so you might be experiencing it as a byproduct of the anxiety from the med change. It will pass, but I know it's scary. My first experience with it was when I was about 12. I felt like suddenly everything had changed about the world and I couldn't get back to the old world no matter how hard I tried.
