Doctor prescribed me .05 to help me sleep at night and to help nighttime panic attacks! I'm taking citalapram as well as metopolol for a tecacardia incident! Doctor told me to take it easy on clonozapram and not to take it every day! Is it that hardcore of an anxiety med?

Clonazepam, (brand name Klonopin) is a member of the benzodiazipine family of tranquilizers. The term "hardcore" is relative here, it depends on what you're used to and what other types of medications you've been on before. Generally speaking, at least at first, all benzos work very well for anxiety and insomnia and they work very fast. Clonazepam for me generally works within 30-45 minutes. Because they work so well and, and because they work so fast they have the potential to become habit forming. Use only when absolutely necessary and by necessary I mean you're pulling your hair out from the anxiety. Heed your doctors warning. In this case too much of a good thing can turn bad fast.

It's not hardcore, but if you're a sucker for drugs like I am, give it to someone who can lend you one pill at a time for emergency situations. I used to carry the bottle with me everywhere and pop some whenever I got nervous. Eventually I started taking more and more because they felt great and being high on them felt like I was in complete tranquility. They are definitely a god-send medicine that has saved me many times in public places. They can be a double-edged sword if you let yourself go with them.

Take them sparingly, it's more important that you learn to deal with panic attacks and anxiety through your method of thinking and 100% natural healing methods.

I am on a larger dose of Klonapin. I take 1 mg in the morning and 1 mg at night. I'm allowed to take an additional 1 mg in the afternoon if my anxiety is really bad. To me, it is pretty hard core. It can dope me out good. You can't mix it with alcohol. I was told this can kill you. It may be different because you are on a much smaller dosage. It's a drug you have to be careful with not to OD or mix. Just be careful. Your dosage may need to be adjusted sometime in the future.

Just curious: how long have you been taking Klonopin? I remember when I had my first one it did dope me out pretty hard. Also if you're having an actual panic attack, such as shaking and irrational thought loops it can hit you hard.

Also yeah, DONT MIX it with alcohol. I have a friend who took some and downed some vodka. He fell asleep and we couldn't wake him up for a while, he was actually 100% fine and was mad that we woke him up! But regardless of his dumb decision don't even THINK about drinking on them.

Update...it's been 4 days without it and so far ok! I'm 8 days into citalapram 20mg and the panic attacks have subsided to one every other day! My job gave me 2 weeks leave of absence to get the meds started! I know it takes time for these things so I'm keeping hope alive and trying to make it through the initial stages of meds

Well week 6 of citalapram and a lot has changed! I'm excercising more and more and I'm trying to learn to clear
My head! My biggest obstacle that I'm starting to see is not becoming addicted to klonozipram! I have embraced it but I'm trying not to rely on it to
Much! The attacks are down to maybe 1-2 a week compared to every day! I guess it does take some time for the meds to really get in plus it takes time on my part to regain control of composure! Taking the klonozipram 2 times a week but hoping not to become addicted

Sounds like you're doing fine. I've been addicted to about 3 different benzos and you seem much more careful. Keep up the good work!

right. Clonazepam is a drug with long life I think is up to 9 hours so small dose will keep your anxiety or panic attack at bay. It does for me. I had a tough time to quit on taking Lorazepam aka Ativan. Docs were stuffing me with it for years.
Every drug even Ibuprophen can be addictive. Most people treat pills like candies and it is not good. People abuse benzos to have this nice easy feeling, for the same reason they shoot heroine, or smoke grass. Some are addicted to shoppin, gambling, ..................
smart person will try to control the intake and will use other tools, therapy if available, meditation, yoga, exercise, having a dog or a cat, and contact with nature, herbs, but be careful with them too. Herbs are potent and as beneficial as they are taking them without the knowledge can be dangerous too. e.i. One not suppose to drink Minth tea more often than once a week, Minth is causing higher production of bile , this is why it helps with digestive system

YESSSssssss. 10 points to this response. Until VERY recently I was using them way too much. Like, instead of using them in a severe panic attack, I'd begin to feel nervous and that was an excuse for me to pop one. I'm training myself to chill out, and I've learned to leave the bottle at home. I have one pill in my truck in case of a severe attack but other than that I try to avoid them. It starts to affect your work.
