Hey guys, i've been diagnosed with generalised anxiety and health anxiety and would like some help and advice regarding somethin that has just become a major issue to me.

My anxiety is under control for the most part and i can function fairly normally. But i've just come back from a weeks holiday with my mates and i feel terrible.

Wot happened is that during the holiday i had a couple of major drinking sessions, to the point you cant remember a thing and the whole nite is just a blur. I must add that i dont drink regularly, but when i do, i usually drink a lot. Am terrified now coz throughout the hol my anxiety went through the roof and pretty much ruined it for me. What effect does a bad hangover have on your anxiety?

I was confined to my room for most the hol coz i couldnt bear being around anyone. i was scared i was going to have a fit or collapse or somethin, the top of my neck and shoulders were in so much pain and i was quite twitchy which was really alarming. i couldnt concentrate on anythin or socialise coz i was so worried about what was happenin to me. Everytime i left the appartment or went near the pool it got worse! I just felt i was goin to pass out any second.

Then i fuelled my health anxiety by reading that alcohol poisoning can give you irreversible brain damage. Now i'm terrified i had alcohol poisoning and have damaged my brain permanently. I got back a couple of days ago and although am a wee bit better, i still feel pretty awful.

Does this just sound like bad anxiety caused by a bad hangover or somethin more serious?can a take a while for the alcohol flush out your system?

Any advice would be much appreciated,

Cheers, Munster

The same thing happens to me whenever I drink. I find that if I drink on the weekend, I'll pay for it for the next 3 or 4 days. I have a lot of trouble sleeping because of my anxiety so usually Sunday - Wednesday is terrible for me if I decide to drink on the weekend. It's so frustrating how anxiety changes absolutely everything in your life...it's impossible to live normally.

I can relate to that completely!!
Alcohol can be such a bad trigger of anxiety... You just gotta realise what it is and that your not going to die or get brain damage etc.... Hangovers suck regardless of having anxiety also haha
