Peaceful Desktops

Although some of us love taking photos and sharing what's about in our neighborhoods I was hoping to make a thread where people could share a 1920X1080 Desktop/Wallpaper that represents somethings of a peaceful view when staring into the empty desktops of their own computers. Resolutions of 1920X1080/ is preferred or at least a resolution of wide screen format such as 16:9. Otherwise whatever your able to find. Take photos and crop them to size, search download and crop to size - whatever tickles your fancy ... I'm sure plenty of people here will appreciate being able to right click and copy. ;)

Note ... you'll need a hosting site that allows you to share at full resolution 1920X1080 (Like Flickr allows for free - unlike photobucket [as far as I can tell]) and or the option to download the at full rez, otherwise simple attachments will not offer anyone the ability to use as wallpaper.

The following I downloaded of Flikr and cropped to size. Looks awesome on my desktop - Either use the download feature or better yet - share them at full size so that others need only "right click and save image as"

TIP - Once on your desktop, right click - go to view - untick show desktop icons (you can reverse this just as fast.)

I may have to use it for my desktop. May I? I wouldn't want to infringe on any copyright . Lol

Also love the carrot juice pic. So talented!

If I take a picture that isn't fuzzy or heads cut off I've done well!

That is the Walberswick parish church tower I think it's 600 years old, this village was quite prosperous then and had a very big church. Then they fell on hard times had lots of fires and a decline in population so took a lot of the church down an built a smaller one inside. I will try and find a picture of it the ruins are quite smart.

Dahilas lakes are much much bigger than mine, they are called the Great Lakes and are really quite awesome. I live north and east of Dahila and have a fairly large lake where the town was built. If I get adventurous, I will get out and take some pics to share.

If I remember correctly, John lives around one of the other Great Lakes, Erie I think. John, correct me if I am wrong!

JohnC

Hi Pam, I hope all is well with you ( or at least on your way to recovery ).
I live about 50 miles from lake Erie. The river that borders to the east of my property runs into the Maumee River which runs into lake Erie. I lived by lake Superior when I lived in the Upper penisula of Michigan. If i could figure a way to live on a major body of water i would not think twice.
Ok ladies (Pam and Dahlia ) what water is close to you?
Pam hope you are feeling well.

John,

I live 1hr north of Toronto (on Lake Ontario) the lake my town sits on is part of Lake Simcoe. I am also about 45 minutes away from Georgian bay, which is an off shoot of Lake Huron.

Dahila
06-09-2014, 10:01 AM
It is not bike distance, the closest one Eerie is about 35 km and the most beautiful with beeches like ocean is lake Huron but is more than one hour of drive. I must go there soon. I will take the pictures.
Lets say I am willing to spend 300 dollars on camera, what should I get? I know it is not much:(
Pam you have the same distance to lakes like I do:)

Hi Dahila,

Lake Ontario is about an hour south of me and would mean I had to go through Toronto and I Hate Toronto so I don't go for any reason. Moved away from there 14 years ago.

Georgian Bay, which is sort of part of Lake Huron is about 30 minutes. Beaches are great so we go once or twice a summer. If I get there this year I will take pictures.

When I was about 7 or 8 we lived in London and my parents often took me to Grand Bend. As I remember it it was a great beach on Lake Huron.

I too would be interested in the type of camera for about that much money. Cully, that would be about 150 pounds.

06-09-2014, 11:32 AM
yes but grand band is overrated :) Iperwash is the one which is most frequented. Georgian bay is breathtaking, I went there few times, my friend owned the cottage. Another one lives in something in Barrie area Angus, we suppose to visit her this summer. Pam I have Nicon coolpix 4000 and it is not enough for me. I need something better :)

Alright, i have got to work on getting some kind of camera although after seeing Pam and Dahlias nice back yard and gardens i am not showing you mine!!! Dam dogs digging all the time and i can't plant a nice flower or garden because i have free range chickens that just scratch the shit out of everything but they do fertilize as they roam the yard.
To be honest i have some pics but i can not figure out how to copy them to the forum. My computer skills suck but my hunting and fishing skills are finely tuned, lol.

Was really great to see the pictures of your gardens everyone. Must be a really good time of year for you guys. Nice pics as always cully. Really like the colors in those feathers above. I have been real busy Dahalia, so sorry I did not leave comments yet in your flikr - might do that now ... I already had a good look on my mobile, will do so on my desktop now. When time allows I will take more photos but for now, I go in search of a quick desktop then share that - first Dahila's Flikr ... ;)

& Of Course PAM ... looking at yours NOW as well....

Nice Dogs Pam ... I remember you posting before come to think of it. :) - Interesting Box arrangement with your beds. What kind of wood are you suing and is it treated with anything - (If so, do you know what?) A lot of people here use old railways sleepers which are full of poison - Somehow, I think you are up on all that. Also, with regards to the perspective of the photos, where were you standing? Looks like up high on something?

Dahila - I leave comments in Flikr ;) off to there now.

John, I hope you and yours are well ..... sorry if I missed anything ..... Later Cully --- soon I have rest day and take my camera out in the morning --- actually I will look for the high tide times and see when next hight tide is around for a morning sunrise - will try the ND filter as well later in the day...... not today though ... or maybe I will ....

I took the pics from the top of the hill in my back yard. It's about 12 feet above the bottom. Quite steep and mowing is horrific. I have some railway tracks behind my house, a one car train goes by once a week, usually when I'm off to work. The hill is actually a berm put there because of the railway tracks.

Interesting Pam ... I will probably have a hill of sand by the time I finish the garden I really like the feel of your place. From what I have come to know of you, it feels very much like you. :) Well, I best get on with my day. Today's desktop is as follows:
PS - Hope you are feeling well Pam. Perhaps we crowed could take time out today and meet in the following world for a short trip through the mountains and clouds. I go download some music pertaining to that. Have a good one friends.

He is a big boob but he does his job well and he is a very smart dog.1366 Oh crap!!! i did not notice that mess of an asparugus patch in the back ground. Guys - just touching Base - My internet has been cut back again as we reached out limit - AGAIN! Grrrr

Thanks Dahila about the sting nettle --- I really need to get some of that ... again I am having issues loading up the pages - Pam - that is exactly what happened to our shovel - such a shame they don't make the like they use to. Whilst out buying one to replace the other, some read "only for loose soil" I was like WTF - I need to be able to jump on mine, sink it in deep and the reef it back in wet heavy soils. I need to do that repeatedly for hours and days on end. Pathetic what they sell these days!!! I ended up buying a full metal shovel, however the size and shape of head was not what I prefer, none the less - I picked the best one for my needs.

Cully, sorry I load up that page later - looks really great from the top part I saw - only just loaded the stinging nettle of Dahila's - Yep I sure need some of that ..

Best wishes to you guys - you too John - nice patch you have there :)

Not well today guys - Going to the doctors to "request" tests to "what we are looking for" not what the fucking doctor thinks! The doctors are useless - we research it all now, and just use them as nothing more than a means to a test - having said that, we also want the printouts of these tests!!! I wonder what excuse ("sorry we can't do that") we will get from a doctor that services the low income/welfare variety. Will keep you posted on that -

I love watching storms out at sea, sometimes in the summer it just flashes lightning out all evening but the storms don't touch land, the sky lights up over and over again. I was working right under the lighthouse today! so I took a couple of shots when I should have been working. When I was little you could see 2 lighthouses and a lightship from my bedroom window but sadly now only this one.

Dahila,
You may have better luck with the roses on a fence than I do. I think you are in a warmer zone than I am and they have a rough time over the winter. The huge ones I have in the front are bread in Winnipeg and they are meant to survive really cold winters. I may resort to those for the back if the ones I have don't make it this year. Now, what to do about the aphids that keep attacking the roses in the front.

Evening guys Pam your garden looks lovely and they are great pictures, also spooky what a sweetie does your son enjoy having all those pets. I was quite amazed at how far out our seasons are I had Lilac out here in my garden in mid April, it must take a long while for stuff to warm up after your long bitterly cold winter. We had such a mild winter that plants got going really early.

Hi Cully,
Actually, my son usually couldn't care less about the animals, once in a while when he comes in the door and the dogs are there to greet him he will say "hi mutts " but that's about it. Sometimes when I'm playing with the older dog he will ask me what I'm doing with his dog. I guess in his own way he is attached to them.

The lilac in the picture is a late bloomer to start, it is a Korean dwarf lilac and shouldn't have grown much more than 4 feet, this one must like where it is cause it is well over 6 feet now.

I have another lilac in the back yard that usually blooms early to mid may. That one is really special to me as it came to me as a scraggly wee plant from the farm my parents own. It isn't much of a farm anymore, it is a piece of property that was a kings grant to my great great great grandfather when he came to Canada from Scotland 120+ years ago. Amazingly the property is still in the family and when my dad passes on it will come to me. Yeah great, all I can do with it is pay the taxes. Yeah me.

Anyway, that lilac was from a bush that is at least 80 years old. I have some rhubarb in my garden which comes from the farm and it has been growing there for at least 100 years. Damn stuff, worse than weeds, just can't get rid of it once it's planted. Anyway I guess I'm just sentimental.

06-15-2014, 03:54 PM
Interesting stuff Pam what part of Scotland do they come from it's lovely up there I used to get up there a lot before I was married, I worked up there in Orkney for one summer. They shipped family's from here to Canada, some of mine were sent to Prince Edward Island and given land, there was a massive workhouse just over the river from me, the building is still there and ironically it's now homes for the rich. The conditions in there were utterly hideous women were separated from men children taken from there family's. Because poverty here at that time was so enormous! so many greedy landowners kicking people off there land. Family's were shipped from here to Canada they were the lucky ones! lots of my family died in there, there is reputed to be over 10,000 unmarked graves up there.

06-15-2014, 04:48 PM
If I remember correctly, they came from around Glasgow, but I would have to do some talking to my aunt who knows more about it than I.

My dad's father came from England. He was put into an orphanage in London, Bernardo's I believe it was called. As a young boy, he and his sister were sent to Canada to families here. This would have been in the mid to late 1800's.

It's amazing what used to go on, shipping children off to foreign countries. It still boggles my mind. My grandfather and his sister were separated when they got here so I have no idea where she ended up.

Dad's mothers side was the ones who got the kings grant and strangely enough, the part of Ontario where it is is called Lanark. Many of the places around there are directly named for places in Scotland. Lanark is named for Lanarkshire, which I believe is still a place in Scotland.

Yes, it is really interesting looking into family histories. I tend to go at it for a while then stop for a few years and go at it again.

Pam If I have to plant anything else this spring I am going to get crazy. I feel that I do not have enough knowledge to take care of roses. aphids; spray with milk mixed with water. They die in hours. you can add a tiny bit of dish soap.
It is after 9 pm and I still have laundry to do. I moved my grandchild small tree to a new and permanent place, and I wanted it to survive summer moving. Hubby took possession of the wheelbarrows, and I had to carry the soil, mulch, everything in my hands. then weeding the veggies path and watering. I have enough for today. None the less, I strive to embrace the pain and warm the chill with what I seek to see. Hi Anne - We are all surrounded with such beauty no matter where we live. I think it more a case, that some see it easier than others. Some seek it more than others. Most beauty today is sort to be put in a can, box or in some tube - to be eaten, drunk and pasted on, rather than be seen, breathed or experienced.

I don't know Pam - I understand how it is that some choose to chase such events ... however I would choose to batten down the hatch like yourself on such a day. :)

I have had enough morning sun for now - I think I will work on finally taking out my hammock for a lay. Have a good day all:

I could of done a better job with a few more twigs and branches - but just wanted to show as is for now. I am glad you like it john - :) it is very light to carry as well. It is my hope that if ever my itching heals - that I can do a video to capture a full 24 hours trip. Segmented Video. The camo net definitely take the attention off me which is how I like it. For people who are just cruising by - the net does an excellent job ... even for birds no doubt which is more of what I like. For the more keenly active walkers who go off track, I would do a little more blending - being quiet is the other thing that a lot of people seem unable to do when out camping.

Have started back on the medications, if only just to prove something to myself and others (I'm hoping it will help then I will have to wean myself off again)

Anyways - You present another fine shot that need not be polished in order to tell a great story. It is really good to see so much more in such a perspective. I would consider a littler crusher dust for the boggy area of that road there. :) How far do you live from that spot and may I ask about the houses in the background ... do you know much about them?

Wishing you and yours well as too, all else here. When I said I finished my patch in the garden, I only meant the segmented patch I was extracting the grass from, I have another two larger segments to scuff over yet, so will be busy doing that. Busy Day for me.

later. ;)

My Picture for the day:

It comes from one I took a little ways back whilst in my other thread. It's not desktop size and nor do anyone please photos need to be. Please remember that. I only entitled this thread like that to encourage those that know the format to consider that as a preference if able to edit. So please by all means peoples - please do share with us anything that gives you good vibes when you look at it, regardless how humble you regard your skill to be - no skill required.

So again - no desktop photo here - just something I had a little trouble trying to edit myself - but continued to keep it as I remember well looking through the lens at this beautiful creature as it did it's thing. So often it can be said that in this day and age we miss out on life so much because we take so many pictures, however in this regard when I talk about my camera being my tool for mindfulness ... no other tool could ever open up my heart to sync in with such beauty. I liken it to hunting at times - the wilder and untamed the creatures, the less reliant on human habitat they be, mores the reward when capturing moments like these:

https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5159/13909692003_204069e936_o.jpg (https://flic.kr/p/nc9NPV)

This kind of photography I love. Again, whilst not a good photo in the eyes of others whom perhaps do miss out on the point of life itself - whilst it be more silhouette than anything else - this is one my more treasured captures compared to many others I am sure would easily best. This bird my just be cleaning itself or doing something else ... no doubt different things to different people ... for me ... whilst I had observed the cleaning technique on that day ... I remember well how this bird was watching me whilst it did it's thing.

I do video later when I have time - got a little footage through my telescope. Unfortunately I do not have the footage of them carrying fish in from the ocean, but I can tell you I was in Awe as on this day, I saw one fly in right over me with what looked like a huge fish, in comparison to it's own body. It was amazing! Beautiful and Magnificent birds.

John - This is part of the Tree they frequent often. The other side of the three has a for higher branches. From my observaitions they seem to fly in and perch on this one as it offers good placement for incoming breeze whilst they clean themselves (picture a few post back) and eat the odd fish. - I will try there again another day.

Ok Dahila, It's a really old one i got back in the 80's. It may take a couple of days but i will let you know. When i lived in Alaska i used to watch the eagles all the time. At my home here we have the Northern herier and red tail hawks, coopers hawk, kestrels and some eagles are starting to come back. I had an imature bald eagle on my property for a few days be it did not stay :(

Here in my city we have a bold eagle nest on one of the high rise in downtown. Awesome desktop Chatative - TY ... I'm right into scenes like that.

Pam - also thanks for sharing garden - always great to go walkabout with such photos. Today I took my flashes into the garden to experiment with flowers and came up with the following one - I hope to better it on another day. I think there is a place for show casing some flowers with a bit of illumination here and there.

Thanks again for everyone sharing - it makes me feel more human and less bitter, when we share pictures like so. I might even change my avatar yet. Maybe ... lol

The following is beauty spawned from no more than seed, water and what season is left to be had. Illuminated in an otherwise shady bush late in the afternoon.

You've been inspiring me Cully. All those awesome photos. Honestly your skill just keeps growing and I'm so glad to be able to learn from yourself as well as share with you. I'm not sure if I will ever break into real estate photography - I just don't know if I can work with other people - but on the brighter side - I can now go in search for critters in the evenings or simply take awesome shots in low light. This will be my emphasis in learning flash photography - to see how creative I can be with illuminating Nature whilst I do a few Solo trips into the trees. We had a bit of rain tonight and whilst it sets me back with having to work with wet grass in my garden, tonight I thought of the opportunity the tree frog on my back steps was presenting as a share and yet another experiment.

I grabbed two flashes and their respective mounts and two diffuser caps - played with the light settings and also climbed a ladder. I did quite the photo shoot and the frog seemed undisturbed throughout the process. When I do macro photography - I prefer not to disturb or hurt the wildlife. You get others out there with all the fancy gear who capture and then stick them into the freezer and or put pins through them. In cases like these they might grab them and put them in a better spot and so on. Not a good thing to do - I think people are selfish who do those kind of things. That kind of thing FUCKS up my Zen ... Yep, even disturbed souls like me can find our Zen from time to time. I have a lot of healing to go yet, but once I get there I will do more pics like these. Learning this flash stuff seem to give an edge on finding the right light and so on. I may perhaps not pull it off again for some time - But these are the better two I have taken in some time. NO SIGS - NO COPY RIGHT ... Just IS ... what it is.

A Frog on my Back Door Steps - and the kind that are in decline ... enjoy while we still have them:

Hey - My Screen is not the best of late - could you please tell me if these pics are too bright??? They seem OK on mine - but my smaller but brighter monitor use to keep my in check. EDIT - Cully ... this was also with an old film lens - 135mm with a very short extension tube - which turned the lens into a 135macro - at a distance of 92cm ... the lighting and camera settings did the rest. I really like it when I pull off good shots with OLD equipment.

Cheers
Dave ;)

Your most welcome petrified - I'm curious ... it that like a golf flag in the center of that green next to the sand hole? I totally agree, it looks like a really nice spot. The sound of the ocean and that fresh air ... is it a little ways from the townships, or are the towns small enough that it does not impact on the natural state of things? Your last photo look like quite a composition. Is it taken from a slide?

Hi Dave yeah it is a golf course right next to the beach. But it's in a tiny little village and it's a protected beach called Alnmouth. You have to pay a small charge to visit the beach.
It's about 15 miles away from where I live so not too far.
I can't take credit for the other photo it was taken by a family member but I think it's a lovely place and I'm really lucky to have it in my doorstep. I live on the northumbrian coast so I'm lucky to have both beaches and the country side at my disposal.

Hi John yeah it's big it kind of surrounds the whole town I live in and has the river running through it. You have to pass through it at some point to enter the town I live in.
But with my town being built on top of a hill we have the added bonus of never being a flood risk. Though we do get a lot of learner drivers practising hill starts here hehe.

Hi everyone, great pictures!

I've been M.I.A. For the last couple of days, been doing a lot of reading. Just bought a book called " the primal blueprint" by mark sisson. It outlines a way of eating and living based on how our prehistoric ancestors lived, very interesting reading, at least for me. I have radically changed my eating habits a couple of weeks ago and now do without grains of any sort, sugar, anything pre packaged. Very little dairy. I eat much like the cave man did, meat, veggis, fruits, nuts and seeds.

I have to say my body is responding well to this program! No more incessant nausea, anxiety levels down, digestive issues under control and I'm getting some energy back. Still have some pain in right side under ribs but I am determined to get some type of resolution to this too.

Nice to see you here Hannah, you are an excellent addition to this thread.

Anyway hope everyone is keeping well.
Cheers

John our irrigation system is a small invention. We made a mistake making the holes on all length but it can be fixed, I think. It is much easier to water it this way than stand and hour or so with the hose. Our soil is very light and dries easily. I do not want to mulch it now and take off on fall. Mantis is like magic. My man loves it, all the wholes and place for sidewalks were dig out with mantis. I have also small tool "Garden Bandit" fantastic tool when you have veggies.

Brilliant shot of the hedgehog - I thought like porkypine, but I don't know much about those guys.

PAM, you are inspiring me to keep clean. Since I have been back on the meds (Sigh - up and down with on and off I know) - I kind of gave in a little - I should go back to eaten clean.

I believe some people call that kind of diet a Paleo diet. I've not been so keen on the FAD numbers - Too many ways of this and that. Bit like how the West put their own spin on Buddhism. Not meaning to imply that changes something to suit one self is a bad thing - it's not, sometimes it the only way to see how it works. But like many of the Fad diets out their, they tend to miss the point and or many variables and differences in many peoples body chemistry.

Having said all that though - Without being dogmatic on any one system, author and or book - You certainly sound like your in a good spot with it all. Again - you have inspired me to give clean eating another shot.

Wishing everyone well. :)

Cully the garden is all I , he did not touch it anything for 6 years, I was on my own. so the medal belongs to me:))
I do not believe in any diets, but I believe what our body tells us. Let's see; we need to learned in moment of hunger to check for thirst. When we train the body to drink water and only water; tea and coffee is fine too. Each of them have benefits for the body. Then our body will not satisfied the thirst with nothing beside water.....
my body screams for losing some and it begs me to stop eating carbs and switch to the meat and veggies.
It is the perfect time to listen to it. Paleo diet like all diets will fail a lot of people. Nuts are good source of protein and everyone should eat it. Diet or not.
Pam you must belong to tribe of hunters, as I do:)) it is not bad diet, not bad at all. I do not agree with avoiding milk , in centuries we assimilated and changed, we easily digest milk in form of probiotic. It is even beneficial , no question asked.
Dave do not dare to slack eating, forget about fast food or fries:)) not good. I believe that meds make you hungry:( it is bad side of them. We feel better and our appetite goes up.....eh

excellent point Dahila - our bodies have indeed changed and I know about the milk story! Just as they now find pesticides in new born babies yet to ingest a wide variety of grocery store foods, there is much that our bodies can no longer ingest that those during the paleo period relied so heavily on. Our mouths have become petite little things and if we even live long enough on that poison they sell us sold in bottles and boxes - we will have heads shaped like Paul, the visiting Alien.

Same - I eat on a lot on those meds the slow your metabolism ... LOL eat more an a med that slows your metabolism ... WOW - How intelligent we really be! Sequel can cause metabolic syndrome - one of a zillion side effects ... Not to worry - I have my garden to keep my active now and I'll wean myself off as I need to. I can almost smell my herbs ... Lisa would like me to grow some dope and press some oil from that! - So sorry your honer ... I was just trying to treat my wifes fucking incurable disease you fear mongering *&%$!!!!.

Sigh - I'd like to dry some of the lavender and try my hand with some aromatherapy ... burning candle kind of plays on my sinuses ... might give the incense a go though ...

Dahila, yes I believe I probably am like you the hunter thing, must be part of the Eastern European ancestry. Lol

I haven't entirely given up dairy, kefir still very good for me and a little bit of milk and cheese. But I am cautious, I was having so any digestive issues that something had to go. The elimination of processed grains or processed anything has really helped. There was a point just before I got really sick that my diet until noon was nothing but bagels and chocolate, talk about blood sugar roller coaster.

Now that I am eating better my energy levels and blood sugars have stabilized greatly (I am borderline type 2 diabetic )

Dave, just so that I haven't given you the wrong impression, let me clarify, I am not really following any one diet dogma, I am simply eating what makes my body feel good for more than 10 minutes at a time.

As much as I like surfing the web for information, I am a bit old school and still like my books. This particular one kept coming up in my research and I decided to buy it more from a research stand point. I will likely find others. What I do find interesting is that since big food manufacturing and big pharma have gotten together with all the quack doctors we have a society of sick people.

My dad grew up on a farm and couldn't afford to eat much of anything other than what they grew or raised. His family was really Healthy and continues to be at 84 yrs old.

I kind of figure what the heck, why not try to eat real food, especially since I am also completely hormonal and don't need to put any more hormones or hormone disrupters into my body.

Hope this makes some sense.

If only using for small garden beds, then this unit is too heavy and a bulky for such things - the wheels could get in the way up near fences and or house. It's a small unit, but still heavy to operate.

it looks a bit different that yours Dave, but you are going to be happy with the machine. I ask my hubby to do a bit only and he made the soil so lose. Next time we know not to do it:)) that much..
Excellent cultivator.
Pam I wonder what kind of blood do you have, hunters mostly have 0 Rh+ or - but no always:)
What you do is good , you listen your body and pay attention, it will give you good results. I highly recommend to learn to drink water, filtered at least. A lot of people drink water with lemon, not realizing that they are ruining their teeth this way. It is much better to drink a juice of one lemon a day (as soon as you drink it, it changes the taste from sour to sweet :)) then rinse the mouth with water, rinse it well.

Yeah the meds..... When I am stressed out I do not eat, when I take my meds I am calm and I eat. It is not the work of meds only but our calmness direct us into fridge:))

Dahila,

As you suspected I am O+ blood type. My mom reminds me as a child (baby ) I couldn't survive on pablum or anything other than puréed meat and vegetables. I guess things don't change!

My first foods wasn't rice cereal like we feed babies today, it was puréed beef and lamb. I guess that's why I love a really good steak! Lol

Dahila

Wow I am trying not to eat meat but as you see I would give a lot for a good steak. Mine is 0RH- universal donor. very bad when something happens to me, I need exactly the same group. My son was eating everything except meat, he collected it in his cheek like hamster, today he still eat a lot of veggies and a bit of meat, :)
I was over a year a strict vegan and I ended up in hospital with a lot of problems. It was years ago, when some diseases was not even diagnosed, eh eating, sometimes I want to go back to the time of slim body

I think it's just a matter of finding the right things to fuel our bodies properly. What works best each of us is a matter of trial and error. At this point I've made so many errors, I can't help but think I've stumbled on what works for me.....but oh, what I wouldn't give for a big plate of pierogi, fried onions and lots of sour cream! Maybe when I get better than I am today I will be able to tolerate it, but for now it's off the menu.

Dahila
06-24-2014, 01:13 PM
Well my pierogis are made the way you probably would tolerate, they can be make with spelt flower, very tasty. fried onions my hubby can eat tons of that, I like fresh onion; sweet onions. Sour cream is probably making you sick cause they mix corn starch into it, to make it thick. The only real one is "Western" brand not fillers in it, but it is expensive.

Cully,
Every single day I wonder that when the meltdowns occur. My heart goes out to you, I know exactly what you are going through.

The meltdowns I deal with now are less about frustration and more sheer anger. 14 yrs and way way too much testosterone flowing through the veins of this boy. Boy, who am I kidding, 5'11" and 230lbs of rage. Puberty has not been kind to my kid.

Anyway, do the best you can do and use all of the strategies you know that work with him. This isn't the first meltdown, nor will it be the last. You and your wife are very skilled at dealing with this. It will pass, you know it will . These things seem to go in cycles.

You did nothing wrong to deserve this, I believe only exceptional loving and patient parents are blessed with children like ours!

Not at all guys - friendly atmosphere in here with hardly a bellowing quote uttered. "....and now I shall respond to such and such at page 3 third from the top bla bla bla"

It's all apples in here guys.

Nice useful Tiller that one Dahila - when I had my other tiller, almost the same as one I just bought - I almost bought the model as well. Reason being, the one I got is no good for along fences and sides of houses - plus it's also much lighter to operate around such areas. None the less - this little beast shall be interesting for the size gardens I usually dig up. It's just a shame that I could not find one with tines that counter rotate. My last one was like that - I explain more in my video. The forward rotating ones at this size tend to make the whole unit lunge forward if not controlled right. The unit is 80kg and if not held right can throw the operator from the handles. The are some funny youtube videos with this in mind.

We have house inspection today with a new property manager - best go tidy up a little more. Then go finish extracting the grass before I till. Not sure if I will till today as still a lot of grass to remove.

Cully - the buildings in the pic remind me of the west in the 1870s ... although far from it. Nice comp! I also had a good look through your Nature shots at Flikr too --- and Dahila's garden :)

Be well PAM - and hope all is fine John ...

Wishing everyone else a good evening and good day -

OH YEA - Dahila I do post on my Blog later about a file sharing site I think is pretty good -

PS John did you try and download those file I sent link for???

Hope it works ;)

Cully, i just wanted to share some of my childhood with you and while i am typing i am thanking the stars for having two very loving parents. When i was in my teens i had such anger and rage and i did stuff like you mention but not try to kill myself but gave it thoughts after my raging. a couple of examples; i was fighting with my father once and i punched a hole in a brand new closet door another ( worse ) after another fight with my parents i went to my room and punched an antique birds eye maple head board and cracked it the full length. Just a few things that my parents went through raising me and i do not know how they kept from killing me or putting me in a home but they did not. I am not sure why i was that way and i still have a temper that 'sometimes i have to stop and think about what i am doing. It's weird though because when i am around the general public i am very quite. I must confess that i do not know that much about autism and i am assuming that whats going on? Just please do not give up and i am sure it must be one hell of a struggle. p.s. every time i visit my two loving parents and i see that head board i almost start crying knowing what they went through and me now having three kids of my own.

Good of you John to share your childhood, I think my wife and I find this stuff so hard is because we are both such such quiet non confrontational people. Thank's Pam for all your support it is good to know that someone really understands what's going on.

Dave I picked up a 400mm lens cheap on fleabay, I am really pleased with it I am hoping to try and get some nice bird shots with it. I have only had a quick test in the bag yard as you do.

Nice to have such a lens Clully - My telescope is a lot to cart around for such closeups. That's a nice angle - My telescopic shots are not the best, however they serve the purpose of getting me in closer than could otherwise be had. I look forward to any close ups your able to share like this one. If you have a tripod - you could experiment with some short videos. I am still to find the one I did of the osprey - Remember to times your focal length by the crops sensor size of your camera - In your case that would be 400X1.5 to get a shutter speed of 600 - So experiment with a shutter speed of 600 as your base - try a little faster as well ...

Hi Guy's

Hope you don't mind me sharing the odd video in here. I do have a Blog for other stuff but feel like sharing my odd ball behavior in here as well. I'm hoping to meet up with another odd ball so I will know once and for all, I'm not the only one.

Anyways - After Sunday's disappointment ... having tried to walk the bike track then, I decided to give the place one last more chance during the week. I was going o till but had a doctors appointment and also had to do grocery shopping. By the time I got home, I figured there was enough time to try a light hike with my Sons Hammock. I have a Hennessy Hammock with insect net and rain fly - but just like with my DSLR camera ... I have been taking too much with me and missing out on the experience.

Today I just took my wife little toy compact camera, a no frills hammock and some light extras. I managed to mess about with a little stupid video and got in a couple of snap shots that I'll share in this post. I even manged to get in a little meditation under the trees, watch and listen to some finches with kookaburras having a laugh as I made my way out before dark. Once you leave the track, it can be realllll easy to get lost if you don't pay attention to your surroundings. I am no good with numbers, but have a good feel for the bush generally - I'll talk about snakes another time ... lol

Not toooo bad thanks Pam. The s[specialist sent the GP an email - (finally) - so I am starting a 10 day course of cream (Betamethasome - same as DIPROSONE 15GM OINTMENT) I got six small tubes which is suppose to last me 10 Days. Put on before bed. Only started that last night.

Going back on my Meds seems to of helped as well - Seroquel is full of antihistamines as per my previous rants and rave. I'm also taking phenergan at night with my Seroquel - ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz LOL

The doc also want's me to take an additional 50mg of seroquel in the morning with 160mg of none drowsy histamine.
_______________________________________________

Best go do that now - hopefully I can push past the serqoquel morning dose and finally start up the Tiller :)

All in all, so far so good - I still itch, but no where near as bad. I do worry about self reliance on all this medication, however the wife assures me the doc will help me come off this time when the time is right.

Thanks for asking Pam.

I do hope you have a good evening and this finds you well rested.

I wish the same for all.

Hi Dave,

Glad the meds are working out for you. My mother in law is on morning and evening doses of Seroquel, it seems to keep her pretty stable, if not a little dopy. Hope the 2 doses don't have you sleeping too much.

Let us know in a couple of days if the cream is helping. I sure hope it does.

I've been a little off this afternoon, anxiety levels up for no reason. Oh well, I'll just chalk it up to hormonal imbalance which should right itself hopefully in the next couple of days.

Be well,
P

The problem with the youngsters is that they have too much time at hand and smartphones, easy access to webmed, so whatever they feel in the body they will find cancer or other dangerous diseases. I will use my DSLR to take some close ups of the Coolpix - :) Yes Dahila, I remember when you told me you had a Nikon coolpix - Remember I said straight up "great cameras) I once met a youngster on Flikr and he took some really great shots. I've always side when I get around to it, that I will also get a coolpix for my next compact. Yes I agree with what your saying - I think it's worse for those that love quoting as well as once they get an idea in their head - they become dogmatic about it - I think some of the old ones it happens to as well - but no where near as obnoxious as the later! - youngs ones today have pegged themselves as OLD when they hit 25 - LOL hahahahahaha - that's the fad industry for you ... What fools!

Do you mean a follower on Flikr - I am following Cully - I check yours now - I AM NOW FOLLOWING YOU, so please get on that bike of yours and take some pics hey. :) (I thought I had ticked that preciouly seey about that.)

Yea Cully overall it has good reviews - Amazon users seem to love it - however some hard core photograph sites mark it does because of the 8cm focus distance for macro. Other Compacts can go in a little closer. I'm not overly worried about, although I will be doing a lot of close ups with it as I loge macro. Battery life is another sad point that had others knocking the score down, BUT everything else on it puts it above many within the same price range. Price wise - for a NEW one on Ebay is aprox $250.00 - but I found some "No Frills" store on eBay that sells "refurbished" and display stock - I saved $120.00 and only paid $130.00 for a refurbished model and as you can see, there is nothing wrong with it.

Looking forward to the owl shot Cully - what a treasure that would be to go through the shooting with that subject. Nice pic you have up there - are you trespassing again :) hehehe Glad you like the tiny tripod - Your right - great for taking pictures of little things and putting on ebay and also just some macro work too.

I have not done a bush video with this compact yet - that will be next on my list for sure. You guys all take care now - hi to John ad Pam as well. Today I invented an ultralight tripod for my compact. I just added three wooden arrow shafts to my mini - but sturdy tripod. The field tips on the shafts give extra stabilization and the shafts themselves despite being feather weights - are actually quite strong and rigid. Total weight is 460 grams. I use elastic bands to quickly assemble and dissemble. I post eight photos that depict the wet tack I walked this afternoon. Going ultralight is making my walks more enjoyable - I needed a break from my compulsiveness tenancies when taking the DSLR - I will still use it for sure - but just enjoying a new style and break from said compulsiveness.

Although I had my new ultralight tripod - the below are all hand held. I only used the tripod for a V-blog - however I'll do some compact tripod shots soon enough. I have to say, this compact has exceeded my expectations. I found the program mode of Dusk/Dawn very effective for the time of day I shot. Anyways - I shut up and share the following compact shots:

Dave,

Your resourcefulness never ceases to amaze me!
Arrow shafts for a tripod, I would have never come up with that!

Cully,

Glad life is back to normal, or at least as normal as our lives ever get. Picture with Joe is priceless, I too have one or two like that.

Hope everyone had had or will have a good day. It's going to be a hot one here today, best get on with my day while I can still tolerate the temperatures.

Bye for now.

Hi Cully,

Yes, we get lots of up and down temps. Today it is 29 Celsius but if you factor in the humidity it feels like 34 Celsius. All I can say is thank goodness for central air conditioning because Justin would be unbearable! House is a cool 19 or 20 degrees. My electric bill is Rediculous but I will gladly pay it to have justin stay on an even keel.

Pam that sounds uncomfortable luckily here it never gets too hot and we always have a nice sea breeze, I get what you are saying about the air con you would crawl through broken glass to keep the peace.

This is a shot of one of the chicks I hatched in spring! I think Mother nature was having a joke with this poor bird, the rest of them have pretty uniform coloring except this one who is just a mess :) or is that unique.

Dahila one moment, chat is not working for me ...

Damn it, missed you - For some time now, chat has been playing up for me. It refuses to work in one of my browsers and now playing up in chrome. Not to worry. We know those high temps too well over here during the summer months. I hope it is a cooler night with the following one.

Hi Cully - they grow up so fast and next thing you know it was as if the experience never happened. No doubt this is where photos shine at their best. Thanks for the share. I see your doing your Ace Ventura act again by calling all the animals of the wild within rang of your camera. Do you play a flute or something??? :)

Nice shots - Hope this finds you well Pam and John - as too Hanna Anne and everyone else that pops in from time to time.

Peace.

Hi all,

Today is one of those days I wish I had a really good camera with a big telephoto lens, not that I would really know what to do with it.

At the top of the hill int backyard there was the most beautiful little finch , blazing yellow and black, sitting on top of a rather large and unsightly weed, (guess I need to get the weed wacker out tomorrow ) it seemed to be happily munching on the seeds from the weed. I knew if I moved toward it it would fly off, but the desire for one of those fancy cameras you boys have really struck home. Oh the picture would have been wonderful. Anyway, it's not in the cards for me until I get back to work , and then I probably need to win the lotto.

Hope everyone has had a good day. Did some running around but it was too hot for me to do much.

Here are a couple of pics I did take. My newest rose bush, and the purple flowers are salvia I think. Brain just doesn't work as it once did.

Cheers my friends.

Nice stuff cully, my youngest chicken is three years old. egg production is way down and i am not sure if i want to free range them any more. maybe a big pen but i haven't made up my mind yet. I started out 14 years ago with all golden pollutes and a Rhode island red rooster then some one dropped off another hen and i can't remember its breed, dam its common ( black and white all over ) oh well senior moment. Anyhow, their off spring is all mixed up now.
Pam and Dahlia, I do the heating and air conditioning and commercial refrigeration so were like swamped. ( i manage the store and parts so i stay in air hehe ). Been doing this 18 years now.

John, I could really use having someone like you near by! I have to make sure my A/C is always in top shape because the resulting behaviour issues with son simply aren't worth it if the unit goes down.

Wish I had a local source for free run eggs! They cost a fortune and I eat a lot these days.

Cheers! Hope it's not too hot for you.

Simply stunning Pam - I especially like the purple one. Yep - John sure is in a good field of work - very handy indeed. Re the egg - we use to have laying hens and would love to start some again, however they do need caring for and should be looked after way more than the average Joe does these days. Would you not agree Cully? -

Dahila - why not share those in here - They look AWESOME ... !!! I will go comment in Flikr then ... first coffee then I will savor your pages - You know I am a follower of you too now. :)

Thanks again PAM - I really enjoy seeing your place - hope your family is well.

Edit ... Dahila - Please share these in here as well ... Have you been going to photography school during the nights or something?

Hi all lovely shots on Flickr Dahila weeds don't last long in your garden I can't believe how tidy it is!. John I keep my hens within an electric fence it does keep there where you want them and safe from foxes which are a constant problem, I have quite a big piece of land and I move the whole lot regularly so they have lots of green stuff to root about in. The fence sounds cruel but the hens soon learn to respect and and give it a wide berth, a large German Shepherd tried to get the hens once and the fence kept them safe. I think some people think you just throw kitchen scraps on the ground and thats it! as you say Dave they need a lot of care, I find it helps to hand rear your own birds as it's so much easier to handle them later when you need to dust for mites, lice etc. John building an incubator and hatching some birds would be a good project for you and your kids! mine love watching them hatch, I am sure you must have a thermostat in that store of yours.
Shame your not here Pam I have had so many eggs this year I could have easily kept you supplied.

I went after that Owl Dave I got up at 4.30 and never even saw the bloody thing it's just going to make me more determined! must be a problem with the old magic flute.

Hi cully,
I also have the land to do it and yes i have raised many chic's ( we call them peeps here ) but the price of feed has gone up so much. I am in a struggle financially to keep my house and pay all the other bills that go with it. My first born was a preemie and the doctor bills broke me. I even spent all my retirement ( worth every penny ) Long story.

Pam, over the years i have realized that people get more upset when there air conditioning does not work than when there heating system does not work. I deal with all the phone calls and customers at my work and i have seen the elderly cry ( more than once ) because of what it cost now to fix such issues. I absolutely hate to see these older folks come in who have worked their whole life and can not afford to get their systems fixed. It makes me want to cry and yes i have had to hold back the tears on more than one occasion.
