I was just wondering what the age of everyone is because I read an article today that said people who suffer from anxiety are usually young adults.
I'm 19.
How old are you?

I am 35 and had my first panic attack a few weeks ago. All because of a numb pinky on my left side . Thought and still think I had and having mini strokes. I cant seem to shake it But trying. As for anxiety attacks not to sure I think i have had mild stress as of age 26 and getting worst as I age. I hate it.

I'm 45 but I'm feeling like 27 so I'm 27 then.
Got struck 4 month ago and it still last, never would think nerves can pull such tricks on me...
p.s.
since I've realized and believed it's really anxiety I'm getting better.

I'm 27.
Had my first attack at 17, but I was always a little anxious. Started taking SSRI's at 18. I came off them at 24 and was good - although still socially anxious and prone to worry. Had my first panic attack in ten years in late January and it was no picnic.

hi, I'm 50 but my first anxiety/panic attack started about one and half years ago...one doctor said panic is a result of a past situation, event or trauma in one's life....it ALL GOES BACK TO SOMETHING THAT WAS NOT RESOLVED.

Like StevieH, I have been an anxious person....or excitable all my life. I have had crazy problems from nerve spots up my neck to my lungs feeling like they've been crushed! Sometimes...I feel I am hyperventilating and can't get enough oxygen into my lungs. Lately again, my throat feels like it's tightening.....like a NOOSE!

I've been doing lately, but it was no picnic for a LOOOOONG time before I've got to this point and really...who knows if I'm really "CURED" but i'm enjoying everyday anxiety free.
17. --Social anxiety my whole life.

why?
Because both nicotine and caffeine are stimulants. It would be in your best interests to avoid both these and sugar. These and any other stimulants will affect your SNS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatic), which will already be hyper-sensitive if you've been naturally anxious for a lengthy time.
The only path to normality is one which must be taken when you are relaxed enough to walk its route. The more you relax physically, the more reassurance the brain receives from the body; reassurance that its safe to come out of hibernation and work in sync once again. This can take anywhere from 3hrs-30yrs depending on your ability to follow the advice you are given. Once your cognition picks up (which doesn't take long at all) you can safely concentrate on countering your negative thoughts with positive ones.

I am 28 years old.
I had my first panic attack at 19. Over the past year my anxiety has become higher than the past, which was manageable.
I have however had symptoms of anxiety since I was little. (My mom has suffered from depression and panic for over 20 years...it's genetic)

YIKES! Crap, do I feel old! So far, it looks like I'm the old-timer on this thread. I'm 54 years old, though I'm told that I do look younger (must be the rock 'n' roll that I play in my band)....Inside, however, this anxiety/panic, when it's in full time activity, makes me feel older than I am. Have had anxiety for about 35 years....but, I'm still standing :)

I'm 32. Been sad/depressed most of life and usually masked it from friends and family and pretended to be happy. No one in my family really knows what I've gone through. So those of you who have someone to talk to, consider yourself blessed.

I am 48, and have suffered from SAD and depression since I was a teenager. I was physically and verbally abused growing up at home and in my neighborhood. High school was a nightmare, being teased, laughed at, picked on by teachers because I was quiet. To this day, I still have nightmares about HS. The few times I asked girls out, I was turned down, and my relationship with women has been terrible my whole life. For years I have thought about suicide, but have never had the guts to pull it off.
I tried so hard when I was younger to make friends, but I couldn't. All of this stuff growing up made me pull away more and more from people, until I trusted noone. I still don't trust anyone because they have never given me a reason to. When you are made to feel like a failure, pretty soon you begin to feel like one.
I, like a lot of people have gone through the "What did I do to deserve this?", cussing God, praying to God for help, etc. I tried so many times to change things in my life, but it has never mattered what I do, or don't do, nothing ever changes. Being as old as I am, I know that it never will.

I am 21yrs young. About a year and a half ago i had a nervous breakdown, a really bad one, extreme panic attacks for months and months but anxiety slowly has gone away. I stayed in my house all the time prior to the breakdown and lost all confidence and drank alot so im sure thats what caused it. Because i was so sick of being afraid of the anxiety once i got a little better i started going out, managed to get a job, and feel alot better. I am still very stressed over stupid things but instead of hiding from it im just fighting head on

im 21 and ive been suffering anxiety since i was about 14 or 15
41 turning 21  . I was born with a generalized level of anxiety - whailed constantly as an infant, anxious toddler and then an angry kid. My brother was diagnosed in the early 80's with a learning disability...waaaayy before it was the popular household term that exists today. We were told it was 'special' back then - and I still believe, if it's channelled correctly one can achieve higher than 'normal' people through it's energy or drive. My brother was on meds at a very early age. He was on what we called 'horse pills' back then because they were so large. After meds, treatment and schooling that caters to these needs (a lot of one-on-one) he was slowly weaned off them. He had grown as a person without losing his identity (and mind). A success story of sorts. Unfortunately, he died in a car accident not too long after. We now have a local resource library for learning disabilities (and the like) named after him and an award I hand out annually to the most improved student from his last school. Bittersweet.
