Does it or do you think it does?

It depends on the person

Different things work with different people

That worked for me though

not always, trying to face your fears all at once never helps.
If you feel up to it try something small that makes you a little nervous, then work from there.
it depends who you are as a person, great if you feel you can do it though! :)

It can I guess, the answers will vary :)

Nixon has a good point, meaning maybe if you have anxiety about perhaps your heart failing and people laughing at you, and you decide to bite the bullet, suck it up and go out there and go to the cinema or something, and just do what you were avoiding - sure, that can be very beneficial for some.

But Kaye is also right. If it's overwhelming, or causes you too much trauma, I don't think it's gonna be too effective.

You have to judge your anxiety condition on how severe it is, how well you can cope with stress, and how many/how complex your fears are.
