Hello, I have suffered from GAD for about 6 months now. When i first went to the Dr. about 6 months ago i was prescribed 20mg Celexa. I feel the Celexa has helped a bit but still had minor to saver anxiety from time to time, (some days on and some days off) i recently went back to my Dr. and he upped the dose of Celexa to 40 mg and asked if i wanted to try Xanax or beta blockers to help. I said no to the Xanax because i don't want to get addicted or dependent on the drug when i know the anxiety will go away after some time so i usually just wait it out in agony.
But i am curious about beta blockers. My Dr. said they can calm anxiety before it starts and also bump up your awareness to what is going on around you. I have no clue what beta blockers actually do and I am seeking answers from you people because you dont BS.
Are they addictive?
Do they help with anxiety?
Are there side effects?
Anyone had good/bad experiences?
Any info would be very helpful.
Thanks
