Oo good luck Jilly :)

Bring a bottle of water, that way if you get a little flustered, take a little sip and slow it down.

Hi firstly well done on getting the interview. I suppose the best advice I can give is try and get a good night sleep the night before, not sure if you take any meds for your anxiety but have one an hour or so before. Also I've heard bananas are supposed to be good so try and eat one for your breakfast before you go.
My driving instructor told me about the bananas before I took my driving test, but I got through it with an extra propananol and rescue remedy drops. I can't stand bananas!! Haha.
Good luck at your interview I send you all the luck in the world :-)

Job interviews can be quite nerve wracking; it's one of those things that the more you think about, the more nervous you get! ..so I guess my advice is not to over think it to much, but it might help to prepare some answers to some expected questions, so you're not going in totally unprepared. Just be yourself, smile with confidence and I think you will do great!

And if you happen to be asked the odd hypothetical question: "If you were shrunken down to the size of a nickel and dropped in the bottom of the blender, what do you do?" This might help you get out of that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYG6tAMWFIo :P

Good luck on the interview Jillian ! :)

thank you for the kind words everyone! I purposefully waited to read replies until I got nervous again... and you all helped calm me down!
I will definitely be bringing a water, practicing breathing techniques, and watching some calming youtubes before I go.

Eman- you are welcome to come to st louis and sit right behind me to reenact the step brothers scene

Good to hear, Jillian

Will you have to do a second one or do you think they are making a decision after the first round?

I wish you success in landing it

I just saw this I'm sorry!

I should hear next week if they need to do second rounds and if not I will hear by the middle of March! They wanted someone with 3-5 years experience which I dont have, so if anything I am just very happy that I even got the chance to interview.

(If I'm sad if I don't get a second interview or the job remind me that I said this lol)

Every "no" is one step closer to "yes"

Don't be down.

Use it as motivation and take what you learned from this process to blow away the next

This is playing out as it should

The one you get will be the one you never dreamed of getting

I love Nixon Rulz's "every no is one step closer to yes" !! I'm also looking for a teaching job but just haven't started applying yet. It's a really tough market, no question. I think Rowling, the Harry Potter author, received something like 12 rejections from major publishing houses before being picked up. Totally proud of you.

And I think the Beatles got told guitar music was going out of fashion :)

You do often find something that suits you. You go there, it clicks etc. Cliched, but usually true.

It's a victory just fighting like Frankie said. I hope that doesn't sound patronising. I always pat myself on the back after, doing certain simple things.
It's all too easy with this illness to hide away from things, and self defeat. Every time you do the opposite it's a win. Us anxious folk are kind of lucky like that. We can pop a bottle and celebrate at failures, cos really their successes. Yep, we're an alcohol companies dream!

Dear Jjh,

That's wonderful to hear. Very proud of you. Your courage will impact students' lives in so many powerful ways. And, you'll be able to relate to those kids who suffer from anxiety.

And my daughter said congratulations to! She asked hows that great teacher that reads all the best YA stuff doing! ? You will make a great impact on those kids with all the interest you already show in what matters and is relevant to them.........:)

Thanks Frankie! That means a lot. I'm sure your daughter heard that paper towns is getting made into a movie. The same actor that plays Isaac in fault in our stars is going to be Q... Tell her if she doesn't know !

Ive passed it on and she was nodding and smiling away Jillian. She appreciated the heads up all the same. Shan said if you are ever in the mood for a "surreal, feminist, satire" try reading Beauty Queens by Libba Bray. :)

I second that recommendation! Or anything by Libba Bray––her books are awesome. (I'm also a big fan of YA.)
