Birth control and depression?

My doc wants me to consider birth control pills due to irregular periods. I've often heard this med causes problems such as depression. Has anyone had issues? Any ideas? I do not want to start another med thanks!

I only tried birth control for a couple of weeks tops but stopped as I did feel it made me moody/was giving me mild depression. That could have been something completely unrelated, however. Give it a try and see how it goes?
