Last time I took Citalopram I also took Buspar with it. Is anyone on this forum taking this combo or taking Buspar alone or with something else? Just wondering. I plan on asking my doctor to add Buspar when I see him next week.

Most reviews would point to if you want something that works, take something different than Buspar
I have seen a few, and I mean a small few who say it helps
Did nothing for me but liberate dollars from my wallet

Maybe them together, I don't know. But I just feel like at 5 weeks on citalopram I should be feeling better than I am. I'm not sleeping well and I still have morning anxiety. I don't know what to do. Should I ask my doctor to change my AD? How long should I give it before I try something different?

I have heard of a medication that worked and stopped, not working when you begin taking it again
If you had success with the two together, I would probably start there
If not, if in the next week or two you don't feel better once the med is at full affect, I would ask to try something else
I seem to be one of the few here that was on Effexor. Did wonders for me.

If you don't have panic, Buspar is ok...if you have panic, don't take it. Throw it into the ocean..:)

Well I rescind my opinion on Buspar for you
As EMan said, it can help with just anxiety
My mom has taken it for 15 years and loves it but she never was blessed with panic

It just makes "panicky" people more panicky....but can actually help people with ONLY GAD....They don't know how it does, but it does. I can not take that stuff....me is panicky!!! YAY!!! :)

The thing about antidepressant use, is it's pretty much just trial and error. No psych knows which neurotransmitters are playing up and can prescribe the right drug to help. They just take the easiest option, or guess most of the time.
If a combo worked before, I'd be real tempted to go back.
I know you have energy issues, if you tolerated the buspar, I'd be surprised if it didn't fix them.
I'm leaning towards seeing you add this.

I'm going to talk to my doc about it, but when I brought it up before, he didn't want to do it then. So, I'm not sure what he will do.
So you think the buspar will help with the energy? Meaning, it'll help me sleep better at night?
Also, I've noticed that I don't really dream, or it's rare that I do. So, does this mean that I'm not getting REM sleep? And could this be why I'm always so tired.

I'd expect it to help energy? You can never say for sure, but it'd surprise me if adding it didn't improve your energy levels.
Citalopram is one of the more sedating of the SSRIs, sometimes it doesn't crack the code alone.
I'm not too sure how to tackle your sleep, I'm not sure what's up with that lol.
Maybe the not dreaming signifies a more depressive state hence bad sleep and some lethargy? Just a guess there though :p

I was on a combination of Zoloft and buspar for my panic disorder and major depressive disorder. The buspar made my heart beat really fast and never helped my anxiety. I eventually got off of it because it did nothing for me. Hope it works for you!
