Hi all,

I have a question. So I was prescribed 0.5mg Klonopin and 1mg Lexapro. I've started with 0.5mg Lexapro in the morning to build up and Klonopin as needed. Now, I've noticed that when my heart starts beating really fast or my head starts going paranoid with a topic (over analyzing or making topics more negative than they are) or when in social events, I go and take one. Also, I've been taking it before going to bed as it keeps me good for the early hours of the next day. So I've been taking 1-2 Klonopin a day - but it says to only take when needed.
My doctor said I would probably need them until the Lexapro actually kicked in (around the second week in) and I'm on my 4th day. I'm just concerned I might be going too aggressive on the Klonopin. So my questions are:
- Any recommendation you can give me on when to take the Klonopin - any sign that I really should act on instead of everything?
- Is Klonopin very addictive?
- Is 1mg a day too much?

Thanks for the help!

I'm new to clonazepam (Klonopin) myself. My GP has RXed for 1mg 2x/day as need for anxiety. I've been taking .5-1mg in the mornings and 1mg one hour before I go to bed. I see my GP and Psych this week and will find out more myself. Wish I were more help but from my understanding you are not over doing the Klonopin. I personally took 2+mg of Ativan everyday for 2 months and stopped cold turkey with no ill effects.

Klonopin which is clonazepam in Canada is probably the least addictive benzo. Last week I asked my doc-psychatrist about it. She said if you do not up the dose you should be ok.. It is long lasting around 9 hours so you actually take less that other benzos. It takes one hour to kick in.
the withdrawal does not exist with the small doses..:) I tried it and no problem:)) Keep taking it as the doc said to help you till the other med kicks in:))
I am on 0.5 once a day but the doc said when I feel anxious in the morning to take twice a day :))

Any medication that make you feel better can be addictive. All benzo's are fairly addictive with xanax being the most addictive. It is an amazing chemical compound. Yes, klonopin is addictive, no, 1 mg per day is not alot...

You just have to decide what is more addictive, Anxiety?
Or Klonopin?
Which one makes you feel better?....obvious answer from here anyway friends.

It is also very long acting in your system, whereas xanax isnt'..It also takes 3 to 4 times longer to affect you, than xanax does...xanax is more addictive because of its shorter "half life"... :)
