I can't tell which one it is. I keep thinking I'm going to have a heart attack.

A little mix of the latter two quite possibly?

Anxiety causes indigestion and muscle pain in abundance!

That's what I'm thinking. It's more of a discomfort rather then a pain.

It really comes on when I focus on it. I've also had warm/cold sensations in the middle of my chest.

Do you have any acid reflux or digestive issues? Those can really make you feel like you're having heart issues. Trapped gas can be a nightmare. Of course, muscle tension is always good for a heart attack scare. The more you think it's something dreadful, the worse it gets. If you keep having problems, it's always best to let a doc check you out thoroughly. If he says all is well, then accept that, understand it's anxiety/ tension related and stop worrying about the "what ifs". If there's a physical cause for your pain, it's best to find out what it is so you can get it treated and be free of the constant worry. Hope you're feeling better soon. I know it sucks to deal with, but do everything you can to ease your mind. Take care. -Jeff

I was diagnosed with IBS quite awhile ago.

Aha! Well, there it is. Trapped gas. I have digestive issues too. Try Gas-X chewable tablets with simethicone when you have bad episodes. They work quite well for me to break up the gas and diminish the chest pains and palpitations.

I've had it for a couple days now . Could it still be trapped gas?

Absolutely. If you have IBS, the spasms in your digestive tract are constantly producing gas. Are you on meds for the IBS?

Well, no wonder you're having chest pains. There are lots of medications available to relax the bowels and prevent all the spasms. A lot of people who have IBS also have acid reflux problems, sometimes without even knowing it. That can definitely cause chest discomfort. I'm pretty sure if this was a heart problem, you'd know it by now. The important thing is to stop worrying that you're going to have a heart attack. And I would strongly recommend you see a gastroenterologist for treatment of the IBS.

In the meantime, try the Gas-X extra strength chewables (chew up 3 or 4 at a time), try some Alka-Seltzer tablets dissolved in water, a heat pad on your chest/stomach and see if any of that will give you some relief. All these things are very safe with no side effects.

You're the best, man!

Thank you so much.

You've really put me at ease. This is exactly one of the reasons I signed up to this forum.

Hey, no problem! That's what we're all here for. Gotta help each other out. Now I'm not a medical expert, so I don't recommend trying to self-medicate and diagnose. Just giving you some tips for things that help me. Get yourself to a specialist and let them recommend the best course to treat your IBS and even check to see if anything else is going on with your digestive system. Seriously, it can make all the difference in getting things back to where you feel normal again. The sooner, the better. Now don't keep fretting about your heart. You're young and you're going to be just fine. Take care of yourself and let us know how everything progresses. -Jeff

In which area do you feel the sensation, maybe trapped gas is my issue as well?
