View Full Version : Having a hard time with Celexa

Feeling like a Zombie... Can't sleep at night and want to sleep all day and still feel on edge for the most part throughout the day... The sleep thing makes me feel super anxious and guilty for being "lazy" as my children's father like to drill into my head....
I don't remember it being like this last time i was on Celexa..
:'(
Advice? Or other Celexa users experiencing anything like myself?
Thanks

What a dumbass thing of him to say
How long have you been on it? Maybe a switch of drugs may be in order

Since the 10th of December.. I started on 10mg even though the Dr said i should take 20mg and then after a week switched to 20mg and I've been Zombified ever since...
And 10mg didn't seem to calm me at all...
Feeling hopeless right now :(

If my feet were smaller, and I could fit into your shoes, I would think about changing very soon. It's almost been one month. There are so many others to try that may have different effects.

Thanks Jesse, i guess so too.. Just don't wanna whaaaaa (Picture a kid whining this) lol
I hate leaving the house to explain myself to some douche about why, what, how, who ect..
In Canada (at least in my experience) they treat anxiety patience like Shit! I need a medicine and they think i must be a drugged out homeless person asking for drugs! I may have exaggerated a tad but it feels that way....
Ugh so damn tired of this and living in a shitty environment 3hrs of daylight ect...
Sorry now i'm ranting but jesus why won't they help?!?!

Really one response? Well thanks Jesse..
I guess asking about vegetarianism can make a a whole anxiety page hate you?
Good to know! I would never treat an anxiety sufferer in such a way..
How sad.. Thx anyways

You're a vegetarian??? SCREW YOU!!! I'm deleting my replies ;)
The sleep issues can take some months to resolve, depends if you wanna wait around? Do you feel any better on it AT ALL?
Now you've called people out, I bet they reply.

Your light went to offline, but I'll keep talking anyway cos I kinda like looking at your blue eyes.
I'd kinda expect you to be doing better now on Celexa. Kris123 is doing pretty well,,showing signs of improvement. You've kinda stayed where you were. In fact, maybe you're even worse cos you can't sleep?
Not what you'd hope for right!
Some things to try:
-Swig some antihistamine before bed. It may make you drowsy. Sleep promotes sleep. Once you're in a rhythm, you're cooking!
-Take the Celexa early in the morning, say when breakfast has been eaten. Nausea shouldn't be a problem after a few weeks in, so it should be fine.
-Exercise. I'm guessing living in the arctic means you kinda stay inside a lot. Maybe play WiiFit?
-Ask your doctor for Zolpidem, it's sleep inducing, it can help whilst you get used to the med.
If you're doing or don't wanna do those things, I guess waiting 2 more weeks and seeing how you feel isn't too bad. If insomnia still hasn't faded then, I'm just not liking the med for you at all.
I'll come on Facebook soon, we can catch up, k. :)

Yeah, do you think the forum has people on it, who are there to deliberately cause anxiety for people? Like some moles kinda thing?
It's just business sense, if the forum was so great, and everyone got cured, they wouldn't sell their products, and there wouldn't be enough people to keep the forum alive. They surely have people here who are deliberately tryna cause anxiety.
Hmmm... Who are the forum moles?

I am a healthy, active, workout everyday kind of chick.. But while starting Celexa this time i haven't had the energy to even walk my dogs...
And they let me know by tearing shit up lol
My doctor takes a month to get an appt. so i just get to kind of linger in this Godawful state of zombified numbness...
And yeah living here with like 4 hrs of daylight per day and -48 with windchill, surely makes wanting to leave the house for any reason ;)

Terra are you living on some really Northy North? 4 hours of light?
Yes in Canada if you lucky you wait a months or two to see psychiatrist. If unlucky can be up to 6 months..
Celexa my psych told me that it takes sometimes 8 weeks to get improvement. I could not take it because my BP went up so much. It seems that all SSRI drugs do this to BP, but youngsters do not have to worrry about it for another 20 - 30 years. Only diabetics need to control their blood pressure...
I think it is worth to wait a bit with quitting on this med :))

What's your dose now? I just saw my GP today and he increased me to 30mg (citalopram). I was on 20mg for 4 weeks and I felt good some days and not so good other days....definitely having anxiety but the 20mg made it easier to cope with it. Anyway, today I have started 30mg, I'm a little on edge about the possibility of side effects like I had with my last increase.

Its 20mg, but it is causing me to feel all out of whack.. I was thinking of cutting it back to 10mg to see if my sleep will go back to normal... I have to take Xanax daily with my Celexa just function..
Dr's don't like to give out xanax and benzos here which is really the only thing that helps... Im getting anxiety about going to dr to ask for more, when i run out :(
I hope your new dose helps you Kris!!!
Please keep me updated :)

The Xanax might be the problem if you sleeping too much. My sleep pattern has been affected as well. Not that I'm not sleeping, it's just that I wake up so damn early and can't get back to sleep...I'm talking like 5:30-6:00 am. So, I've just started going to bed earlier to try and ensure I get enough sleep. That doesn't mean that I'm not tired during the day, cause I am and I often feel like I'm dragging my feet with what ever I do.
Has the celexa been managing the anxiety?

Ive tried taking it morning, noon and before bed in the last few weeks... Like switching it up.. I took Celexa for two years before and weened myself off and was fine for a year an a half then suffered a panic attack out of nowhere and tried everything natural i could including vitamins and laser acupuncture therapy which was really expensive.. Still found i was waking up with panic, so i caved and went to the Dr and went back on Celexa... Never felt like it did much the first time around and now it feels like im in a fog wanting to sleep all day and having two kids i can't do that (obviously) lol
The Xanax just calms me a bit and makes me yawn a lot...

Sounds similar to me. I was on it for 5 or 6 years. About two years ago I had myself weaned from it and then out of nowhere in November I started having anxiety again. I was put on it the first time in 2006, so I can't really recall what I was like when I started back then, but probably similar to what I feeling now. I think it just takes time. Do you ever experience periods of depression along with the anxiety? Today I've been feeling rather depressed. It's like I don't feel joy in anything anymore. I don't want to do anything besides lay on my couch and read. I do t even enjoy watching tv. I can't remember the last time I laughed, for real. It like it's always forced...to make other people feel more comfortable. Or to make it seem like I'm interested in what they are saying.,,,when I'm really not.
I also feel tired all the time. But I won't allow myself to take naps during the day. I fight it and go to bed nice and early.

Yes i feel a lot of depression and anxiety like it flip flops but only while on meds.. I'm not really a depressed person when not on meds...
I didn't have an appt today... My Dr takes a month to get in to see her...
The medical system where i live is an absolute joke!
I swear if they had taken my panic attacks more seriously, i wouldn't even be suffering half as bad as i am now!
My 8 yr old daughter suffers from anxiety too and now i'm concerned that she has OCD now too, so i'm overwhelmed with all these fears right now about finding someone appropriate to deal with her properly so she doesn't suffer like me... Ugh
So tired of this disease or condition, whatever it is.., :'(

When you said you have to wait a month to see your dr, do you mean your GP or a psychiatrist? Cause, if it's a month long wait to see a GP, that's completely ridiculous.

My polish friend son moved there lately, and he loves the place.
I imagine the health care and number of doctors is limited. I live in southern Ontario, and we still have long wait for specialists app. However we have a lot of family doctors around, and I wanted to change, so my hubby , and my daughter, but none of us got called in. We put out a quiet few application. I am stacked with GP who i think should not work anymore.

The snow is tainted with mercury and Cancer is a huge thing here.. There's air quality issues all the time and the Dr.s are all very foreign and hardly speak english.. Its a nightmare for anxiety sufferers to live here.. They send ppl to the ER for everything and the drs work half days and 4 days a week with month vacays all the time... Its a shit show... My GP once told me i was paranoid ad sent me into a whirlwind...
Ive been trying to sell the house and move back to BC for two years now... I feel i will only get the help i need from a move back out of a transient place where they have people that actually know how to help with such disorders such as anxiety ect...
I just want to run away from here sometimes!
I am happy yours sons friend likes it here though!
Its where the money is..
Not so great for me as i am an animal and environmental activist and this is a yucky, dirty, toxic mess and killing animals is a fun pastime for a majority here.. So i have a lot of guilt anxiety just for being here...
I'm sry for ranting lol having a rough day today :)
I hope you get the new Dr you need!
We out here cannot switch drs even if you don't like their manners or their doctoring skills..
Its shitty...
