Hi all,
hope u r all enjoying the holiday and less anxious than normal. I am so high of anxiety, that I am considering meds or the "I do not care attitude". Everything I see and do must be perfect, that is me, not anyone else in my family. Any feedback. let me know. Thanks. Merry Xmas! Alita

Don't mention Christmas, it's over for me now :(
Where are you from? Are your 'issues' cultural? CBT has good rates of effectiveness when treating 'perfectionism'
How about both :D
Go for medication that will help you to feel a little more calm and that will help you get control of your thoughts, which when they turn anxious will help you adopt the i dont care attitude.
I think trying to fight anxiety without meds is kinda fighting a loosing battle to be honest, i tried it and i spiralled further into its control and im not saying by any means it cant be done but why would you want to put your body through more stress when depending on your anxiety and the severity one small tablet a day might just be enough to help you get a grip on it? This is comign from someone who NEVER takes pain killers or antibiotics (unless v needed) i really HATE medicines of any kind as i tend to worry about side effects BUT i take a propanalol every day and have done for 6 years coz i know it helped me back when my anxiety was bad and not really sure if it helps me now that my anxiety is underwraps but ive kept taking it anyway just incase.
So completely your choice but i'd opt for both as i personally thing you will need some form of med to take the edge of you anxiety before you can truely adopt and believe an i dont care attitude towards anxiety .... just my personal thoughts but you will know yourself best , good luck with whatever you choose :)

I've never been able to obtain this elusive "I don't care" attitude no matter what meds I taken. I believe I might enjoy it. I think its important to medicate if need be, stress on the body is cra cra. Do what you can to help yourself relax.

Talking from my own experience and also the advice from my Therapist:
Take them when I am feeling critical and in a weakening state / however once the SIDE EFFECTS (weight gain/metabolic syndrome) tip the scale then work at coming off them - Never rely on Meds - they are an assist only attitude.
Now to begin my new COMING OFF Quetiapine/Seroquel Thread! See details in there. ;)
