Common symptom I know. First I felt chronic phlegm when I swallowed about 5 years into 7 of smoking. When I quit I still had the feeling. When anxiety came about I noticed it was sometimes more pronounced and felt like a physical lump in my hroat.
Past couple of days had a slightly sore throat and a lot more phlegm. not actually coughing and it's not turned into a full blown cold. But as I'm sure you know when you feel ill or run down it can make anxiety heightened.
There's never been any worrying symptoms though> i can swallow food fine. Soemtimes pills feel stuck but with plenty of water it's fine. I notice sometimes after finishing my food it feels like the last few remanents are stuck in my throat but that could be in my head.
As with any anxiety symptom the more you fixate on it the worse you can make it. I was just wondering if people have been checked out for this with Dr's before? I know if it was persistent a GP would advise me to go to an ENT Specialist and possible have an endoscopy...not something I like the idea of.
A few months ago I went to dr's about the chronic phlegm and told him it'd been about 18 months since I quit smoking. he said smoking plays havoc with stomach acids and to take...hmm omazaprol? Something like that...for 2 weeks to reduce stomach acids. Thing is I rarely get reflux, heart burn etc and the pills didn't help.
Trying to be logical about this as I know there are conditions as well as anxiety that can cause the lump in throat feeling and very very rarely is it ever anything sinsiter. Hmm feel like i'm rambling now.
Anyone had any luck in things to help relieve this sensation?
