Hello

I'm new to this forum and am hoping that joining an online community will help me with my anxiety issues. Let me start out by saying that I have never been on any kind of medication before besides antibiotics. I don't even like taking Motrin if I don't have to. Doc put me on 5MG of Escitalopram and tonight I will be on my fourth dose. The thing that bothers me is the increased anxiety when I'm taking Escitalpram it to get rid of it! I would normally get anxiety if I were in public and standing in line at the grocery store but the feeling today was so much worse and I know thats a side effect of this but its horrible! I'm worried about going to work tomorrow since I haven't been since I started on this. I have read many posts about how it gets worse before it gets better but I'm really hoping this increased anxiety side effect goes away soon. I'm also experiencing decreased appetite and slight dizziness. I read that caffeine makes it worse so I totally cut that out as well which is killing me!

I"m just looking for a light at the end of the tunnel, I have XMAS parties to go to and I'm already anxious about them and trying to avoid them. Today I canceled on my girlfriends for lunch because I was worried about feeling light headed and dizzy the whole time (this was normal before, just worse now).

I've heard so many success stories on this drug but I'm at the stage where I'm just not seeing any relief!

It takes time hun, don't be hard on yourself. Be healthy, excersize, drink plenty of water and distract yourself.. You may find on the way to work even the first half an hour may be hell.. But once you get going it should subside. Be patient, do everything you can to keep yourself relaxed. Baths/showers, deep breath, meditate, do something you love doing.. Be positive. It will all be better soon x

Thank you - I hate waste time by saying I just want the next few weeks over with but I'm hoping the heightened anxiety subsides. I plan on getting up early to start off the day with a workout :D

Excellent plan Liz!! Alot of this also is the "apprehension" of taking a pill, that is "supposed" to help lower anxiety, of which it will..but the mind creates much of it "anticipating" something to happen ASAP, as we are all used to things happening in this day and age...try to minimize the pill thoughts friend. :)
