The pains are a b*tch.

I've had car accidents, fallen down stairs... No joke, the pain from anxiety was worse :-/

I remember being so so sore.

Have you had a medical checkup to rule out any health causes?

If that's the case, there are a two daily things below, that you can start doing if you aren't already, that should help quite a bit. These two things should help the pain after a month or two, and don't take too long to do everyday.

1st is progressive muscle relaxation. Tense muscles are the biggest cause of bodily pains. Whilst muscles are tense, breathing is harder, and lactic acid and adrenaline levels are higher. It's one big nightmare.

Progressive relaxation was a huge part of me getting over my pains. Really useful when doing exposure therapies to get over agoraphobia too. Scientifically proven, medically recommended, and very easy to do:

Here's a link to read about it:

There is an audio in this site you can download, or, you can YouTube it and find one you like more, or a shorter version of the exercise. Once you've learnt what to do, you can just run through it yourself:

2nd thing is Tibetan rites. It's a very simple, easy, 5 minute yoga exercise, to make you look younger, make your heart healthier, and get your body into balance. (No putting legs behind your back, I swear :)), it's been very helpful to me. Again, these are well renowned for giving people increased sense of clarity, better circulation, and for stress reduction. They've been on TV lately too, you've probably seen them! Do the easiest level first.

Here's a paper version to see and read:

Here's the video of them being performed on a popular American TV show.

Go slowly at first if you're very sore. Start with one rep of the normal exercises, or use the modified ones if you prefer. Once your heart rate reduces, circulation normalizes, and stress levels reduce, these pains should go quite a bit, and your body will feel like it wants to do more.

Both are very effective for hypochondria too. They teach you to recognise stress and tension, and as your awareness of both increases, you're able to link things up in your mind, and become fully aware of how tension and stress is causing the pains you worry about.

I really can't stress enough what a good place to start these two exercises are. They'll eventually help your CBT become more effective, your exposure to become more manageable, your pains to become reduced. They are a great foundation which you can then build upon. I do both daily, still, as a preventative measure!

Hope you enjoy them Saz :)

My husband started suffering with anxiety a few years back and he was exactly the same, he was convinced something was wrong with his heart and that he would have a heart attack. His GP kept telling him he's fine but when you have anxiety there's no point telling someone their fine! In the end he agreed to send him for an ECG and bloods which showed he was ok and did help him but when the anxiety took hold again he'd think the same thing.

You will come through it and feel better, sending you virtual hugs xx
