I walked through school holding hands with one of my best friends (who's female) the other day and now she's getting some quite rude remarks about it. people calling her a "lesbian" and some other rude stuff. She's actually avoiding me because she doesn't want to be seen with me to provoke the people. We haven't spoken in over a week now and I'm worried that all this is going to affect our friendship! Can someone please give me some advice on what to do to make her feel better and make those people leave her alone? All advice is welcome, I'm literally willing to do almost anything to get my friend back..

Give it time. One thing I remember from school is that rumors usually leave as fast as they come. Try sending her a text or message letting her know you want miss your friend but understand laying low until she's comfortable...maybe you guys can at least talk still. I'm sorry you guys are going through this!
