White noise sound?

Does anyone have, or has ever had a persistent high-pitched sound similar to white noise in their head? I started noticing it last night when I was trying to sleep, and it even sounded louder than my noise-maker. I think it is in my head and not my ears because I still notice it when I plug my ears. Is it tinnitus? Will it go away? Am I going nuts? I feel like I am going nuts.

Yeah, it's also as annoying as hell! I read in the newspaper once someone killed themselves because of it. I assume it was way worse than just the normal tinnitus though.

Very common with stress and anxiety. Try keep reminding yourself that!
