I have this. For me, it did subside after a few weeks as did most of the side effects.

Citalopram isn't good for anxiety. It masks it but doesn't solve the problem. I'd look into medications that raise dopamine(Bupropion, trycilic anti-depressants, Ritalin).

Can I ask your dose? I started on 10mg for two weeks and recurring panic attacks so they already upped it to 20mg. I get adrenaline surges and chest pain along with pounding heart.

Original effective dose for me was 40mg ( I think I started on 20 for a week and then 40 the second week ). That was good for me for two years. After 6 weeks or so the side effects did go away, but yes it was rough for awhile. I do remember feeling a little more uppity for awhile. That was about 2 years ago.
Now I've recently been upped to 60 and then 80 because of recent life changes which led to a return of a lot of panic attacks ( 4-5/day). I do get chest pain and pounding heart but that has also gotten better. My doctor also has me on Klonopin wafers as needed though as well. I take it regularly for the first 2 weeks and then take less and less as times goes on. It seems to help with the initial increase in anxiety that comes with the celexa, as well as relief until the celexa kicks in.

It can happen, for me I felt just a little agitated. But if you haven't had that yet then it just may not be a reaction that you will get! So please don't let that comment scare you! My doctor started me on a very high dose very quickly.

It should pass. If not try zoloft.
No meds don't "solve" anything. They are not supposed to. Never meant to. They are to lessen anxiety and therefore symptoms hopefully as you work to address causes for it, therapy, lifestyle changes, etc. Some need them long term, others short term and other don't need meds. I wish I needed none but oh well. Alankay

When I was first taking these I had a few side effects, my pupils used be be big and the other one was my chin used to go mad every morning when I woke up like as if I was freezing but I wasn't, another was being tired an I could feel it kick in but they was cope able, but the 2nd time I was put on them again this was 2years after I stopped I experience different affects like sweating about 45 minutes after I took them an really tired an feeling really weird all over my body like my muscles have gone to sleep at that point though my anxiety was high so I blame that for bringing in them symptoms and I was mistaken then for affects cause us anxiety sufferers know there's so many horrible symptoms it can bring on.

I've noticed I am very tired and almost weak in the morning, then throughout the day feel better. This happen to anyone else? Could it have to do with citalopram?
