This article describes how the US takes the lead in mental illness, but unfortunately treatment isn't quite up to par. The reasons many don't receive it are covered, including no insurance coverage, and stigmas regarding mental illness.

A few interesting facts from the article:

-Half of those who'd meet the criteria for mental disorder start suffering symptoms of it by the age of 14, and three quraters by the age of 24
-Nearly half of Americans will meet the criteria for a mental disorder (at least, from the 4 groups they list) at some point during their lives
-Almost half of people met the criteria for 2 or more other disorders
