So I'm on day 5 of cipralex( also known as lexapro) 5mg. First day was horrible as i had extreme nausea and fever but that went away. I'm having side effects of hotness of hands and head. Will this ever go away or should i stop the med?
I also used this med this june, but stopped due to other side effects like extreme gas/anixety. I didn't had this hot hands problem in june, but decided to give this med chance again.
I also used seroxat(paroxetine), i had the same side effect with it too of hot hands and head. I thought it didnt suited me, so i stopped it.(Used it for 1.5 week). So probably whenever I'm going to use a SSRI,I'm going to get these side effects.
I used both these meds last year, i had no side effects. I used countless antidepressants since then, so my body system is messed up i think.

Main point is, will this side effect of hot hands and head ever go away or should i stop the med?
I'm scared..

These should disappear in time at the dose. Lexapro is known for fewer side effects as most others in general. Alankay

Yes it can take a few weeks for symptoms to disappear. I find that when starting a new antidepressant it is helpful to take a small dose of a benzo to get you over the hump. Then you can gradually wean off them when the full effect of the antidepressant kicks in.

How are you guys sure it will go away?

It takes at least four weeks for antidepressants to take full effect. Most of the side effects are anxiety related so if your feeling better chances are you won't notice the symptoms. The only way to know is to try.

It may take 4 weeks for med to take its effect, but it doesn't mean my side effect of hotness of hands, head or body will go away.
I also had this with seroxat, so am i allergic to ssri? Even though i faced no side effects from them last year. :/

I still get a hot feeling in my head sometimes, and I take Lexapro. I don't get anything like what I used to though. And I notice it more when I changed my dose.
