Hi! I have been put on 10mg lexapro once daily and I am having some very hard to deal with side effects. I am only on day four of taking it and I was so scared last night that I skipped my dose. I have had a horrible headache. This would normally be fine because I would just take some Advil but I was told I can't take pain meds while in lexapro. Also I have had tightness and pain in my chest. And last night I have difficulty breathing which caused me dizziness. The tightness, pain, difficulty breathing and dizziness I have had all these issues before starting lexapro. So it may all be in my head but I'm worried and scared to continue taking the medication.

Hi, Sorry you're having these difficult side effects. I take Lexapro too and I remember when I started it I was very concerned about start-up reactions so I actually cut my 10mg pill in half and only took 5mg to start with. Maybe you could try that?

It is quite common to have some side effects when you start a new med like Lexapro, but, hopefully, they will subside quickly. I would keep in close contact with your psychiatrist about how you're doing on this med. I hope you feel better soon!

PS: I was not told that you can't take pain meds on Lexapro and I have definitely taken Advil since I've been on Lexapro. Can you double-check with your doc about that?

Thanks for the reply. I read a lot into it online as well and it can be dangerous from what I hear. I plan on calling my doctor on Monday and continuing taking the med until then.

I know!!! For a pill that is supposed to make you feel better it sure does make you feel like crap in the beginning!

I just started back on lexapro last week. I was On it for years. I always take Advil with it and the side effects are tough in the beginning. Mine are already subsiding and tomorrow will be a week. I am already feeling less jittery and the dry mouth is going away! Hope this helps!

It does! I just overall feel crappy. No appetite, sick to my stomach, headache, difficulty sleeping. The list seems to grow as the days go on. I hope the start to fade soon

Try not to think to much about it! Sometimes I make myself think I have the symptoms . I try to put it in the back of my head I feel a little better!
