 Hello to all of you im glad I found this site, because when yuo suffer from anxiety its easy to think yuo are alone. I certainly feel this way. Ive been suffering from anxiety for about a year now, medication has not worked, actually its made me feel worse. My constant fear is that Im going to have a heart attack. Ive had an ECG, a stress test, an ECHO, choleterol and diabities test, and all have come back negative. But the physical symptoms of my anxiety always seem to suggest heart attack, pain in my left arm, numbes in my arms. Chest pain, shortness of breath, nausea. I constantly take my blood pressure, I have bought like two BP monitors an automatic one and a manual one to insure that the automatic one is accurate. Sounds crazy right, I feel crazy. Its affecting everything I do. I can't live my life. I take aspirin every day, garlic pills to ensure my cholesterol does not clot my arteries. Im so stressed. I feel dizzy, lightheaded, and just so sad all the time. I have constant mood swings. But im glad im not alone. Hoping to beat this

Hello Isaac, Welcome to the forum. I joined only a few days ago, and like you found the messages very helpful and people friendly.

I used think I was having a heart attack, if you have had all the tests, it is time to stop worring about your heart. I had an ECG, went on the treadmill and nothing turned up, and still I get the pains in my chest and arm, (as well as other parts of my body) I no longer think of a heart attack and that alone does not stop the symptoms but lessens the feelings of fear.

It is better to check out these symptoms, but once you are told it is anxiety, do your best to accept it. It does lessen some of the fear.

Hope this helps you a little. Good Luck Daisy

Know what you mean Isaac. been there.

When I was diagnosed with anxiety aged 16 I was not happy with that diagnosis as my symptoms were so physical that I thought they could only be caused by a really serious organic condition.

Blackouts and near blackouts. Raygun-like sudden jolts of pain in the head or anywhere in the body. Confusion. Feeling of just being on the verge of collapsing where I stood.

Brain tumor, stroke or some sort of heart condition were my fears.

While sometimes Doctors do miss something your symptoms are very common for anxiety, although when you first get them you assume they must be unique. People assume that because anxiety is 'psychological' very real physical symptoms can't occur. They can - and they can mimic any number of serious-sounding conditions.
