Hi everyone. I'm here because I suffer from anxiety and severe panic attacks that have gotten much worse lately. Because of my insurance it could be up to 10 weeks before I can see a therapist so I'm hoping these forums will give me some of the support I need. :)
I hope you find the Forum of use. I only joined a couple of weeks ago and already had loads of help. Just getting a response makes me feel wanted, and if the response gives good advice it is an added bonus. There are so many of us with same health problems, great to help each other. Hope you find it helps too.

I got lucky. The woman pushed me through and I have an appointment on Friday. I'm looking forward to possibly feeling better soon.

Thats awsome. Just know that some medications can take up to 6 weeks to take full effect.
Hope that you get the right help straightaway and start feeing better. Remember tablets can take 3-6 weeks to work, so if you get tablets you need to try be patient until they work. Apart from tablets, ask what other help thy can offer you too. The NHS do really good courses and so do the Mental Health Forum. The courses can help you as well as tablets and you also meet other people on the courses that feel like you do who help to talk to.

Today is my 6th day of my new antidepressant and my doc made me promise to take my lorazapam everyday and I don't like feeling this drugged but at least it's taking away the bodily effects of anxiety even though I still feel it in my head.

I'm supposed to take one every eight hours for the next few weeks, until the effexor kicks in because my general anxiety level is so high.
I have not tried lorazepam but I take regular diazepam every four hours on top of my anti depressants. Diazepam keeps my anxiety at a controlled level most days unless really bad.

Today was the first day I took the lorazapam consistently like my doctor wanted and it really did help. I had moments where I felt the chest tightness and pit of the stomach fear, but it just wasn't as bad as it had been. I'm glad I listened to the doctor and took them. I hope the anti depressant kicks in soon though so I don't have to be dependant on the benzos. They do make me a little slow.

Thats good to hear
Sounds like you are doing well, just keep persisting with antidepressants until they work and you will be so much better.

So yesterday depression decided to rear is ugly head. I got notified that I did not get into graduate school and I just completely broke down. I stayed in bed and cried the entire evening. So yeah, the lorazapam helps with the anxiety but of course, I'm still frigging crazy.
Not crazy just anxious and head problems at moment. Anyone gets down if have bad news like you did yesterday, it is natural. Sorry you did get bad news, but I believe in fate. And it means it would not have been right for you, and something right will come along and you will eventually be pleased you had not done it, or not done it at that place or at that time.

Just saw my therapist for the first time and she thinks I have depression as well as the anxiety. I just want to feel normal again. Sigh.

Welcome jbevis!! I understand how you feel about having to wait to talk to someone. I am waiting to be approved for insurance. This forum is great to have. We all suffer some type of anxiety or depression so there is no judging. I have made some great friends in the world from this forum. It's nice to know there are other people who understand what you are going through and that you can't just "turn it off" or "get over it". Hope this helps. Welcome Aboard!!
Jbevis hopefully you will now feel a bit better now that you know what is wrong. Not easy to get over them, but at least you know what you are dealing with. We can all help you now.

Thanks Lin. She gave me the number to their crisis team too in case I need it. I wish I didn't feel this way all the time.
