Hi all. Been off work for 2 weeks following what I now know was a massive panic attack at work. Broke down at the doc's who said it was a stress reaction and prescribed a weeks worth of lorazepam. Attempted to return to work on Friday, suffered huge anxiety and sat in the car park for 20 mins, then the toilets for half an hour trying to calm myself before making it to my desk, only to burst into tears that something I had been doing for years..( getting to the office and sitting at my desk) had become such a scary experience.

Where do I go from here? Will the doc give me some medication I can safely use on a daily basis so I can function? Did I go back to work too soon?

I have started yoga, stopped drinking and trying to get a grip.but had a couple of mild attacks this weekend ..have two young children and a full time job and it seems work is a significant trigger for attacks...what do I do?

Please, any tips welcome..what's happened to me??

First have you talked to a psychologist to see if a source can be found for your anxiety?
Lorazepam is a great med but discuss a ssri with the doc and he may refill the lorazepam until the AD starts working. Is work causing the anxiety or something else I wonder? PM me any time. Alankay

Hi, I have been suffering the same. I have a toddler.
I honestly believe that it's best not to "avoid" work as it will make your anxiety worse.
I too have been in my job 6 years and all of a sudden going was the scariest thing ever.
Mine then made going anywhere a living hell.
It's such a horrible and frightening thing, but you're not alone

I have a counselling session on Thursday so hopefully that will help......what's a ssri? and an AD? New to this anxiety lingo.
