View Full Version : Thought id cracked it...

Almost managed a whole shift at work last night without any anxiety! Felt really good, 5 mins before clocking off I was In deep conversation with a colleague and bang! Out of the blue I couldn't breath, had chest pains and ( a new one for me) felt like I'd been stabbed in the back! I had to excuse myself from the convo so I could try and get it together, but my mind was saying "this is a new one, this is the one that kills you" and all that rubbish! Luckily only lasted 15 mins, but so annoying when I thought I'd had it under control and it sneaks up on me like that! Oh well, will try again tonight!

I understand where you're coming from. I've had similar problems, only I've felt like my heart was beating so fast that it was going to pump the blood through my eyes and make my head explode. I've even been to the point of dizziness and headache. I like your "Oh well, I will try again" attitude! I feel the same way. The only way to overcome your fears or discomforts is to break out of your comfort zone and face them. Good stuff..

Thanks for your reply, I'm currently at work and so far so good! Not getting my hopes up though!

Yes I too have been there numerous times. Each panic attack is always the one that's different and is more serious but never is. My brain loves to fool me I think because it knows it can. Hopefully one day we all can realize its just an illusion and not fall for its magic tricks anymore.
