Im recently taking paroxetine generic for paxil 20 mg for 4 months. It was working ok in the beginning, but for the past month i been having some anxiety and feeling tired still. Talked to my psychiatrist about it and she suggested i up the dosage to 30mg but im worried bout weight gain and withdrawl when i come off. I told her bout taking somethimg else she said escitalopram generic for lexapro 10mg. Should i do the switch or up the dosage? Will it be hard to switch? Withdrawls from paroxetine? Will lexapro be better for GAD? Any info will be nice thanks

Yeah for GAD lexapro is good. For that and 10 mg is roughly equal to 20 mg of paxil. Some don't have issues with changing even with paxil so try it. You will make the transition I bet. Alankay

Sounds like your body is getting used to the paxil. You should talk to your doctor about it but if the only other option is upping the dosage more I would consider trying the lexapro.

I take Escitalopram and it work's great, but makes you have almost no libido. I haven't jacked off for weeks.

I get my meds from my therapist should I talk to her bout it or go to the dr..yes I don't want to up the dosage again maybe switching is best..I just hate that you can not find the right med the first time around.

Talk to whoever prescribes your meds. I wish it would work the first time too! I was happily on celexa for years and just had to lower my dose a few weeks ago due to new FDA findings and now I am suffering with anxiety again. Saw my dr today and she prescribed me Effexor instead. Of course, the prospect of taking a new med is causing me more anxiety. No problem yesterday

I was on celexa for years too and it helped but then it didnt so I had to switch and had a big anxiety melt down and for a year haven't been the same and I upped the dose for celexa and been on Paxil but not working :( hope the Effexor works for you I know how u feel.

I even stopped taking meds all together because i was doing so good. Was great for about 2 years and it just came back full force.

Yeah unfortunately anxiety will do that; you could be fine and then one day you're doing nothing and BAM it hits you. I hope you get it figured out and it works out for you too. Let me know how it goes.
