Oh yes. Search the feed for heart palps. We all get them. I had them since July last year everyday, every other beat or every 30 beats etc. I did some research and found that stress can cause this and that magnesium citrate helps so I went and bought that and since I took it Sunday I have only had a few each day!!! Oh and fish oil omega 3 is good for palps too and I started on that too. I am just so excited how I have been mersible for 7 mths and pretty much free of them now:) I hope it keeps working for me. You cannot use mag oxide it does not absorb well and is worthless. I tried that for months. My pharm has skipped beats to and he Rec the mag citrate because he takes it and it got rid if his:)

Ive had bad anxiety since december 2012 & at first i didnt experience any palpitations i had had a few every once in awhile in the past though. My anxiety went away for a week & came back & this time with the palpitations, i got one every once in awhile & once i started stressing about them, i got more! But when i lay on my left side, they do not stop! Its so scary. I cant take them anymore.

Laying on the left side does make them worse. I don't know why but that's what I have read. And I know how you feel. I had them way back but maybe a few every so many months. Them July last year they woke me up going crazy! And they never stopped. I did not know if I could keep going like that but took it day by day. And 7 mths later there almost gone. But I believe it's because of the fish oil(omega3) and the mag citrate. I also saw where you can buy epsim salt and soak in the bath and its suppose to help calm palps right then:) the mag citrate is a calming vitamin for your muscles and nerves. They even use it in hosp of course at a much higher does for irregular hart beats. So that's why I went and bought some and I can say with the fish oil and mag I started last Sunday WOW. I am scared to get to happy. Lol. But man, I forgot how great it was not to have palps every few seconds all day long! Just don't get mag oxide. It does nothing! Start with epsim salt baths for 15 mins. 1-2 cups 3-4 times a week or when ever your palps get going. And get the fish oil and mag citrate.

And high stress like anxiety depletes us of vitamins. I started with bad anxiety first then the palps came. The more I stressed over them the worse they got. It caused my anxiety to get worse because its such a terrible feeling.

Hi guys. I just joined this forum today. I have anxiety disorder and recently went to my doctor complaining of heart palpitations (random, felt like my heart was skipping a beat and would lead me into instant panic attacks). Vicious cycle, to say the least. It was going on and off for about a month but I just couldn't live everyday, in fear, not knowing if maybe I had a serious heart issue. Fear of dying is awful (and I'm only 36). FYI-I currently take Klonopin .5mg 3x/day to help control panic attacks.
I went to a cardiologist and they put a 24-hr. heart monitor on me so I could press a button anytime I felt the "heart palpitation" and it would record exactly what my heart was doing at that exact time. I probably pressed the button about 10 times in 24 hours and also wrote down what I was doing at the time it happened. (I.E.- watching tv, playing video games, walking, etc.) They also did an EKG and an Echo (ultrasound of your heart for anyone not familiar).
A few days later, I had a follow up on all the results w/ Cardiologist: EKG normal, Echo normal and he showed me my heart patterns when I had pressed the button feeling the "heart palpitation". Guess what? Everytime I pressed the button, there was no evidence of a heart palpitation. Ironically, I only had 14 PVC's (when the bottom of your heart beats before the top) out of like 88,000 heartbeats and when I had the PVC's I didn't even feel them. I was pressing the button but no abnormal cardiac event was recorded on the heart monitor. I promise I am not crazy.
So..Dr. says you are 100% fine and you do not need to be here. I asked him, what the heck am I feeling then? He said they are "ghost palpitations", meaning non-heart related. Could possibly be a nerve twitch, muscle twitch, even gastro-intestinal. He couldn't explain it but I sure as heck felt 100% better knowing that I wasn't really having heart palpitations at all. It was all in my head and probably just a symptom of being anxious.
Has anyone else had a similar experience? Did you ever figure out what you were actually "feeling"? Noone can seem to figure this out. I just have to deal with it. BUT I don't get scared anymore because I know it's not anything to do with my heart. I just get random "twitches" from time to time and life goes on.
Sorry for long post but I wanted to make some of you feel better because I know the heart palp sensation is super scary, especially when you already have bad anxiety/worry like myself. If you have insurance, I suggest to go get it checked out by a cardiologist . You may find out what I did and not be afraid to live anymore.

Nick I went through the exact same thing. I even had them while doing my EKG while at a heart specialist who specializes in arrhythmias. He told me nothing wrong with my heart. These are normal. Everyone has them but not everyone can feel them. Said once you feel them and know what they are then most likely you will feel them all the time. Also said stress and anxiety are the biggest triggers for them. Guess that's why I seem to only feel them when I'm stressed or panicky. My heart actually skips a beat when this happens, I have felt my pulse miss. I was so worried about it but every doc I have seen says treating it is not worth it. Said just learn to live with them. Being down stress levels. They come and go. Right now they are gone. Been months since I've noticed them.

Nick, I had to go to three different doctors because I was sure I was having heart palpitations and wanted to be tested several time. All fine. Right after the skip I have a panic attack because I feel terrified. Gradually, the skips are disappearing. Very uncomfortable. Feels like everything may end in a second.

Try magnesium citrate. It worked for my skipped beats. It has a calming effect for your muscles and nerves. It's been day 10 with NO palps!:):). I had them every day for 7 mths!

That's what they told me too. I even asked my heart doc if I could be low in magnesium and said no that is rare. I told him I had read that low mag can cause heart palps and he said it was a myth so I brushed it off and kept suffering. Then I started doing research on it and found that it can and to take magnesium citrate. Not mag oxide! It does nothing I tried it. So I got the citrate and was having palps all day and took it and they went awY with in the hour and I have been palp free for 14 days now. And had them for 7 mths straight everyday all day! So I am hoping that's is what has helped me. It's worth a try to see if it helps you. Most store just sell the mag oxide. I had to go to a vit shop for the citrate.

The heart specialist I went to bc of the skipped beats did a blood test to test my mag levels. One of the first things he wanted to check. So yes it is real and not a myth. Remember people that not all medical doctors are superheroes and healers. Some just went through college and barely passed their classes enough to get a degree. They are not all knowing. There is a reason why they call it " practicing " medicine. If you feel you don't like your docs advice see a different one.

Well unless he did a very detailed mag test that cost a lot more than a reg mag test the results always come back good. You have to have the in depth mag test not just a blood sample.

Just the regular mag test the doctors do is not enough for the true results. Read up about it on google and you will see the test that have to really be done to detect true mag levels in the body.

Im getting heart palps nearly every day again lately. I feel pulsations in my neck at the same time. I freak out as soon as i feel it coz i think my heart is having some kind of crazy attack. I end up wanting to cough to make it stop. Thinking to maybe try the magnesium citrate? I saw a naturopath yrs ago who put me on some kind of magnesium powder back then. Forgotten what it was exactly though.

I started mag citrate 2 weeks ago and have done so well. I had them for 7 mths every day and now maybe feel one a day if that! I don't now if it was the mag citrate for sure but since I started it it has pretty much taken them away! It's worth a try. I did a lot of research on it and everything for palps kept saying to get it so I did:)

What is it then that we are feeling? I don't get it. I had a frickin' heart monitor on me and I know what I'm feeling and the monitor didn't pick any of these up. I'm just curious what is actually happening (physically inside my body) that causes this sensation of a "palpitation, heart skip". If the cardiologist says it's not my heart, what is it??
Is it a nerve? another muscle near my heart? If I knew what it was, I would feel so much better. Again, I looked at all my results and on paper there was no evidence of any skipped beats or palps. Anyone ever get a diagnosis on this?

I don't know if that makes me feel better or more worried. Now I have to be afraid of my autonomic Central Nervous system not working properly? Now I'll be worried that it's not working right and will cause it to send wrong signal to heart and make it skip beats and stuff. I hate anxiety. What a horrible disease this is.

I have a question. Do any of your heart skip beats when your heart rate is up? Like exercising, etc? That's when I feel mine the most.. Is when my heart rate is high and coming down... It skips as it comes down. Doesn't happen all the time.. So it's annoying.

Doctors just say it's anxiety, but it's annoying to feel my heart flip flop, skip and whatever after I run... Hard to ignore. It has gotten better and I have times that it don't happen (weeks at a time). I worked out when I had the 24 hour heart monitor on, but I guess they didn't see anything alarming cause I haven't heard back from anymore. I do however have sinus tachycardia. Anxiety and stress suck! Lol

I am new to this forum and I also have heart palpitations. Everytime I "think" I have a palpitation i suddenly get a nervous jolt in my stomach a.k.a. butterflies. ( i am not sure if the palp is coming before or after this stomach jolt) and everytime I get them my stomach is feels nervous/full and gurlging...digestive problem?
I have had 4 ekgs, bloodwork and a routine exam by a cardiologist....is this the same sensation you all are experiencing?

I get all sort of symptoms with my heart. I have sinus tachycardia extra heartbeats and my heart feels like its flipping in my chest
It's scares me so much
My heart races at about 140bpm when I'm resting but anxious
I'm convinced something is wrong with my heart
But cardiology tell me it's fine
Plus I get all the other anxiety and panic symptoms! Although I was having about 30-50 panic attacks a day it's settled down a lot now
I was aggrophobic for 15 months
But I can at least function now a bit better than I could
I never thought anyone could feel do unwell and nothing be wrong! But I guess I'm alive so I'm living proof

Chest palpitations are also caused by trapped gas inside you. So that is actually a cause that isn't to worry about.

I do not think its all anxiety. As I have stated before I had them for 7 mths straight every day and night. Skipped beats, double beats etc. I did a lot of research on them. If you have them every now and then it could be related to anxiety or that your magnesium is getting low. It could stay like that for years. Like it did me. Then one day BAM! 7 mths of it. All doctors tests came back fine. Told me it was anxiety. I new I did not feel anxious when I did not have them so I started searching for answers. Found that people who have this can be deficient in mag and not know and even have a mag test come back ok. So I went and bought magnesium citrate like all my research said and was having a bunch on Jan 17th and finally took one. Well within a few hours they were gone!!!! Yes I do have a skip every now and then but I can handle it. I go days and weeks without 1 now. I take the mag citrate at night. It's helps the muscles relax too and nervous system. I am even sleeping better. So mag citrate won't hurt you it's a vitamins. So go get some and just try it:) it can't be mag oxide. It does not absorb well. Has to be the citrate. It's been 2 months now with no skipped beats:)

The regular magnesium oxide did not help me at all. It's not well absorbed. It says that all over the Internet. But the mag citrate is:) it's also use to stop pre term labor, irregular heart beats and after a heart attack. Of course in much higher does at the hosp. My regular stores did not have it. I went to a pharm that had his own pharm and got mine. I believe health food stores carry it to. The grocery stores etc just carry the oxide.

I take the Mag Citrate for palpitations, it seems to help some. If your worried about your heart you should also look into taking a CoQ10 supplement, very good for the heart. I also seem to recall something about them helping with brain function, but don't quote me on that.

I get them when I work out. :/
Hi minababay! I just wanted to share with you that I get palpitations when I am more active. Like when I take a shower or cleaning the house, walking up the stairs etc. it is very scary because I think that it's a heart condition because it mostly only happens when my heart rate increases. I do get them every now and then when I'm just sitting there, but mostly when I'm up moving around.
I hate it because all I want to do is exercise but I am too afraid if these palps. Last month, I really didn't get any palps so I went walking regularly and I felt GREAT! I also noticed that I wasn't very stressed at the time either. But this month I've been under a lot of stress and having anxiety and I believe that is what caused my palps to come back. It's just hard and scary because the thought if it truly being something more serious.
I want to go to a cardiologist and have it checked out again...just to get a peace of mind if nothing else. The first doc I went to was an ER doc so I'm not very trusting of his diagnosis.

Hey, P.s.Butterfly. Thanks for your response:) I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one noticing it more when I am active. I had the 24 holster done and everything came out fine:) I used it while I worked out so they could see my "skip" beats.. Thankfully, they did see it, and they are perfectly fine. That has been a huge piece of mind for me. When I do get them now, I am able to ignore them. I do believe my Zoloft has been helping, because its keeping me more calm and feeling less stressed. I workout a lot now. You should go ahead and workout too! Just ignore the Palps and think of how amazing you will feel after your awesome workout:) good luck!!!

Hi Mina, thanks for responding :)
I am very happy to hear from someone else who gets the palps with activity. I do plan to start walking again and I hope it will help with them as I hear exercise does.
How long have you had the palps? I've had mine going on a year now.

I totally believe your heart can speed up after you eat. Glucose/sugar from your food can increase your heart rate just the same as caffeine sometimes. It also increases your body temperature. With my anxiety, the very slightest change in any sensation or function is noticed and can often lead to anxiety. So when my HR increases, or stomach gets full, or I get a fever or just get hot or cold, they all can increase my anxiety which increases the severity of the sensations. It truly is amazing how we can control our body with our mind but is most always done negatively.
