Hello guys. First post here at the forum. Found this site through google.. and read alot of people's post. Figured why not give mine a shot!
Anyways, so around November 2012 i experienced a problem swallowing. It wasn't that the food couldn't go down, i think i just panicked when tried to swallow. Anyways for about 1 week or so when swallowing liquids/food i would have to tense up / grasp onto something in a way to feel comfortable and to proceed onto swallowing. After about a week, i could swallow but i was still sorta panicking. I could eat, just it forced me to drink tons of liquid before swallowing. Anyways this lasted all the way up to Christmas time. I then went to a doctor because ya know i figured hell, somethings wrong. Wether it be tonsillitis or something that is blocking my throat. Shrug! who knows? He said nothing was wrong, and referred me to a specialist ( ENT) .
Same thing, sees no cancer, nothing. But a really bad post nasal drip that might have left noticeable damage (scars) so he put me on (Fluticasone). Yeah, nothing seemed to happen. By now im sorta thinking its some sort of anxiety/ mind over matter. I realised if i don't think about it, im fine. Weird right? Anyways it stops for a week. Perfectly fine eating as much as i wanted too, not even having to think about swallowing. And now it has returned! Even though i don't think about it, it still occurs. It was fine for the majority of the time, and then bam! I have no idea if this is anxiety or what, but its to the point where i have to think about swallowing and sometimes i panic when swallowing and i choke. I can explain more in greater depth if need be.

My mum had the same symptoms before she was diagnosed with anxiety. She couldn't swallow at all & visited the doctor thinking it was something like tonsillitis, but they said it was anxiety that was causing it.
I sometimes have trouble swallowing food, but I tend to be okay with liquids. So I drink smoothies rather than eating when I feel anxious.
Is it very often that you experience this?
