brand vs generic

Curious to see if anyone else has had a problem with generic medications like I have. I was on lexapro for about a year, began with some nausea but got it under control, then my pharmacy switched me to the generic pill and 2 weeks in I was having bad suicidal thoughts, got scared and refused to take it anymore. Went back to the brand name and was fine. Has anyone had an issue like this? Does anyone know what would cause it?

I've not had an issue with meds from my local pharmacy but think overseas meds shouldn't be trusted. IMHO. Alankay

I didn't my my mom didn't react we'll to generic lexapro either. It doesn't bother me but it makes her feel nuts.

Thank you. Sorry your mom had a bad reaction. I feel a little validated though knowing it's not just me.

It's definitely not:) and my mom takes regular lexapro now and she's fine

I switched back to brand with no side effects, but the cost is killing me, my insurance no longer covers it.

This is my first time taking an SSRI for my anxiety. I take generic Lexapro and after 3.5 weeks I can tell a huge difference. My side effects were minor and are gone. I am doing more and happier. I've had no sexual side effects either which was a concern to me. I'm on 10 mg. for me the generic has not been an issue at all!!!!
