Hey there,my name is Samantha,i'm 21 and looking for someone to talk to i guess..sort of feeling pretty lonely regarding my mothers severe depression and agoraphobia, which she has suffered with for 12 years now so from a young age i have had to look after her and take on a mother role to my younger sister.I guess i have tried my best to help her but nothing has worked, and i think i need to get an understanding of whats really wrong with her,i know its a horrible thing for her to deal with. And i sometimes feel guilty for being down and upset about it myself but i cant help it,its pretty heartbreaking. So im really just looking for people to talk to about it really. Thanks :)

Having a loved one with depression is hard. It's especially hard when that person is supposed to take care of, not the other way around. Don't be so hard on yourself. Feeling upset and frustrated is only natural. Has your mother seen someone? Or ever taken meds?

Hey thanks for your reply. When she first fell into depression she had various doctors seeing her and medication etc,but its been 12 years now and as soon as she wasnt deemed 'suicidal' or at risk the help just seemed to phase out.Obviously i was only young at the time, but she hasnt had any regular help for around 9 or so years now, gosh you dont realise how long it has been until you say it..i have tried her with anti depressants but she refuses to believe she needs them therefore wouldnt take them, and i juggle work and household duties too so remembering she needed them myself became hard and that phased out too,so now she literally wakes up and stays sat in front of the tv all day, with no intention of going out or any care of serious issues going on around her.
