What's going on with you right now? What are your symptoms, and what has worked or not worked for you?

Well I'm 26 my anxiety started when I was 11 my mom was really sick and ended up passing away when I was 12... I am always very anxious about health things.. I freak out over small things.. I started taking medication at 21 different antidepressants and anti anxiety meds.. At this point I am on 20 mgs of Prozac 150 mg of wellbutrin xl ( which I just started 3 weeks ago) and kpins I just feel awful mentally and I'm afraid if I can't get a grip I'm gonna end up in the mental hospital!! My family tells me to get over it and be "normal" like I want to be the freak of the family!!

stjlynn,
It doesn't sound like you are getting much out of therapy. What have you tried to do to combat these emotions? Meditation, exposure therapy, talk therapy, group, etc? Why hasn't that worked for you?

I've been on the kpins about a year before that I was on zanax and prior to that Ativan.. I've tried doing meditation but I gives me really bad anxiety which I find weird... I usually just do talk therapy I also suffer from OCD which my therapist wants me to try some sort of out patient treatment that exposes me to my fears which I completely scared of.. People keep telling me I need to get worse before I get better which is scary because I can hardly function now I also have 3 kids that I have to take care of

Not everyone can do CBT/Exposure Therapy. But if you can tolerate the anxiety(many can not) it usually will dissipate as you see firsthand you will not go crazy, lose control and/or die. Thing is not everyone can tolerate it as we feel anxiety a little differently, with different amounts, symptoms and have a different tolerance for anxiety. For those like me who can't tolerate it, we need to do and try "everything else" we can. It's a hideous, nasty feeling. Absolutely nasty and horrible. True, can't kill you but damn it truly feels that way. In a small way I hate myself for it but everytime I've tried to "beat it" I've gotten to the point where I swear I will never try this again as it's so very nasty. Alankay.

Like Alan said, it's not for everyone, and to be honest, it's probably a bad idea to do it without the help and guidance of a professional. Have you tried journaling or breathing exercises? Both of these can help bring your symptoms down to a more manageable level.

I use to journal as a teenager maybe I'll start again!! :) as far as breathing exercise do you mean doing deep breathing when I'm freaking out

Yeah. There are a bunch of apps, if you have an iPhone, or numerous ones you can find online. Try YouTube. Just a quick 5-10 minute exercise, nothing too long, to help you calm down when your anxiety gets high.
