Has anyone tried beta blockers before? Did they help you out at all? How were the side effects?

I've tried them a number of times but with mixed results. Primarily I've taken them for blood pressure but with the added bonus of that they can help with anxiety.

The first time I took them they worked brilliantly for BP but unsure of the effect on anxiety. Yes my anxiety went away but I think that that's was largely due to other events.

The second time I took them they made no difference to BP or anxiety.

The third & current time I found they have done wonders for BP and for the first week were great for anxiety but then the anxiety came back.

The careful doctor will prescribe Beta blockers as the first port of call.

Why? because they are commonly used for low to mid anxiety in normal folk doing anxious things... like acting, or public speeches.

They reduce adrenalin which in turn slows down the heart rate.

They do absolutely nothing to your general mood.

The only thing you can do is try them. They might work / they might not.

For folk who suffer high levels of anxiety, they're unlikely to do much.

The only thing that has ever genuinely worked for me is Clonazepam. Calms me down, helps me sleep, even inhibits intrusive thoughts I get from OCD.

For me, it has been diazepam (valium)... which is similar.

Marverlous drug, as long as you don't abuse it.
