I've been having panic attacks since my freshmen year of high school. I am currently a sophomore in college. I tend to get these when reading aloud, speaking in large groups of people, basically anything dealing with being put on the spot. I have not been able to attend actual classes due to this. I guess it basically makes me feel as if I am alone and it's odd someone my age cannot go to school?

I too started PA's in high school and it prevented me from going to college but for different reasons. Is there anyone you can talk to? A doctor, counselor? Cognitive behavioral therapy helped me a lot during that time. Do you have friends in your classes ? knowing i had a supportive person/friend use to help. I'm sorry your having such a hard time

You are not alone . I started getting panic attacks in high school and I am in nursing school right now and almost get panic attacks while at clinical at the hospital. It prevents me from wanting to go but I try to stay strong :)

Cyncyn... Did the cognitive therapy help you?
I am currently trying to find someone in my area, such as a therapist or counselor. Thank you for your response!

Unsure , I take Zoloft and go to a therapist once a week. I do not have insurance but I don't have to pay for it because it is county funded :) it helps :)

Thank you very much! I'm personally afraid to take medication for it, but I know it has helped others. Thanks for your response!:)
