Random anxiety

Since coming off the Xanax XR, I've noticed that I've had random anxiety attacks throughout the day and night. Is this normal or is it all in my head, and what can I do to make myself feel better? Btw, I'm not completely off of it yet.

It's called rebound anxiety and it is a classic side effect of coming off a benzo.

I tried to come off Valium too fast and ended up back where I started. Make sure you decrease your daily dose super slowly. I'm not sure of the dosage for Xanax, but I'm coming off Valium half a mg at a time, reducing every month so I don't experience the rebound.
