Started taking Citalopram

I started taking Citalopram 11 days ago. 20mg every morning with breakfast. I started bc I have constant severe anxiety about everythingggg and slightly depressed. My problem is, I have not felt any change at all since I started. I had my hopes up so much that it would help me so much and I feel the same way as before. Is it not in my system enough yet? Does it take longer to feel effects? What should I do I am ready to try somthing different .

It can take several weeks to fully take effect. When I first started taking them it was about 4-6 weeks before I noticed a difference. Even then it was talking therapies and learning relaxation techniques and tools for coping with anxiety that really helped. The meds just help with some of the symptoms but not with the root of the problem. Are you seeing a counsellor/psych?
