If you've been taking lorazapam for a long time , does it become a placebo ??

No, but you can build up a tolerance. You might want to speak with your dr about switching meds and a slow taper. Benzos aren't recommended for long term use.

Agreed. Benzos should not be the only med or treatment for anxiety. An ssri, counseling, education, reading, relaxation, proper breathing, exercise, etc, should all be used in combination tailored to the patient for anxiety treatment. You may build tolerance but a placebo has no actual action and the benzo will still bind to gaba receptors but they(receptors) will/may down regulate over time and it will be less potent but not like a placebo. Thank you both for your replys . I don't think it would be a good time for me to try & come off just yet , I hope I can in the future though .
