My doctor has prescribed both but as someone who has never been a long term med like that I would greatly appreciate feedback from anyone who has used either. Benefits? Side effects? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

Lexapro(I'm on it) has the fewest side effects as it acts very specifically on serotonin only. I'd go with it if you can afford it. Buspar often makes folks dizzy at first and you need to dose a couple times a day bit is cheap. If you have GAD, either but buspar is cheaper. If you have panic, social anxiety and general anxiety I go with lexapro. I get it(lexapro) at www.doctorsolve.com(good Canadian pharmacy). It's much cheaper but takes a few weeks to get. PM me any time. ALankay

I have just completed 2 weeks on 10mg of lexapro. It has not kicked in yet, but obviously these types of drugs take time. Through my research, I have heard VERY good reviews of Lexapro. I am prescribed it to treat panic disorder.
I experienced little to no side effects. My psychiatrist had me take 5mg for 4 days, then 10mg a day. There were two nights when starting where I woke up a few times throughout the night (not normal of me) but I quickly went to bed. It also made my anxiety slightly worse on 1-2 days, and made me feel depressed for 1-2 days (these days could have been purely coincidental).
I do believe lexapro is known for being one of the easier ones to get on, and get off. I'm looking forward to the positive effects of it.
EDIT: Oh and one more note- my psychiatrist recommended I take the pill before I go to bed so any side effects happen then. May have been the cause of the two nights where I woke up a few times. But been fine since.

I have gotten a little bit better. Tonight I will be upping it to 15mg for the next 5 days, and then potentially to 20mg which my psychiatrist believes will be the ideal dose. Even though Lexapro is known to have less side effects, she is still having me take it slow just to be nice and careful.
