Ok. When I start to get those pre anxiety feelings, this is what I do.
If I'm out, shopping or with friends, or whatever I make a contingency plan. For example, IF this gets worse and I can't calm down I am going to give myself 15 minutes before I go and sit in the bathroom (ew public toilets!) and do some breathing or take a Valium (if it's really bad). If I don't calm down, I will leave. I usually never have to take those steps.
I have downloaded a number or applications to my phone to help alleviate anxiety and distract myself. 'Relax' has some good breathing techniques. I can access this forum from my phone. I also play silly games to get my mind of things, 'top girl', 'draw something', there are so many fun little games I can use to distract myself and calm myself down.
If I'm at home and feeling restless, I channel that energy into some stretching and sit ups. It always helps. I also get into some vigourous cleaning - its satisfying and productive and takes my mind off the anxiety.
