Unhappy Forum Virgin - Anxiety is running my life

Hello all...This is my first forum ever. I hope that I can help ease my acceptance of anxiety by meeting other people who suffer from it. I am 30 and female. I had a brief encounter with depression aka Baby Blues after my son was born in 2008. Besides that my life has been wonderful. That was until 12/16/2010 when I went to the ER because I could not breath and my heart was pounding-----DX: Panic Attack!! I had no insurance until Jan 2011 and I went to a new Dr. on the 3rd since then my life has been turned upside down!!! I need people who I can talk to and understand me and what I'm going through. I am praying that I found the right place!! My first question why are anti-depressants to hard handle???? Or is it just me??

Celexa, Adivan, and now wellbrutrin which is the worst ever.....I can not sleep, eat, think, I am having muscle spasms and twitching , ringing in my ears, dry mouth, can not think straight!! I have turned into a complete Bitch which I am far from. I have been going to a Psychologist and she is helping me a lot and she told me she thinks this is all from a Hormonal Imbalance?? Know anything about that?? This is all such a mess. Thanks for the support!!

I was a happy camper until I had a panic attack, I have not been the same in two months, I was on Celexa for a month and the Wellbrutrin for a little over two weeks!! The adivan is as needed! Which I didn't take untill I started the Wellbrutrin because I have muscle spasms that make me stay awake and my mind wanders. What pisses me off is that my doc never asked questions and just gave me meds I should have never taken them. I am going for a hormone test next week just to see if that is the cause. I do relax and I have a good diet and exercise. I also take Lisinopril for High B/P which came about with the aniexty and I have seen a cardiologist who has done ever test and told me that I am OK!!!! Tell me a little about your self and what you take or do to cope with aniexty.

    Thanks, T

I have taken all of those. Celexa made my seizures worse (on top of anxiety, I have epilepsy *sigh*) so I went off it right away and am still suffering withdrawal. Ativan makes me incredibly dizzy and groggy. Wellbutrin makes me an insomniac, same as you. I can't tell you how sorry I am you're having to go through this. *hug* Hang in there, you'll find the right med. Or supplement or something to cope.

It's not just you. LOTS of people have a hard time with antidepressants. As for the precise reasons, this is one of those things that nobody really knows completely. Despite what you might hear, the truth is that our understanding of the human brain is still in its infancy. And when it comes to making these sorts of drugs, the process is largely one of trial and error. In other words, try a new compound, and see what it does (not alot differnet from a 13 year old kid trying cigarettes or marijuana for the first time in an abandoned tool shed). Medical science is not even CLOSE to being able to design drugs like antidepressants in a rational manner. After all, nobody even really knows what these drugs SHOULD accomplish! For instance, the whole serotonin theory is FAR from being a fact, and has LOTS of holes in it. The result? Well, about what you expect from a drug intended to affect the operation of the most complex piece of equipment known (the human brain) without complete knowledge of precisely how that equipment operates. In other words, a highly imperfect drug.

Unfortunately, the drugs over conceal the problem it does not cure it; when you come off of them; it's often right back where you started! Unless, you reframe the way you think about anxiety; called cognitive restructuring. Like KeV says once you think differently, your anxiety doesn't have the same effect.
I have to do this with each new symptom,
You're going to get through this!

Hi and welcome to the forum, I'm new here to and the level of support looks great. Try CBT therapy and try taking Passion flower supplements (never take Kava! very dangerous but available through the internet.)

    Good luck to the future

Hi I have just joined this forum, I think you are brave, and the clue for me is when you say you need someone to understand you and to talk to, problem shared. Thats the reason I joined this forum because I am fed up of feeling anxious and checking alot.

I canīt believe all the doctors! that you went to see a doctor and only thing they did was prescribing you a drug and thats it! No questions about your life or your thoughts or other things... Drugs can cure symptoms but it wont cure your problem, because its much deeper. Psychiatrist have the highest rate of suicides amongst themselves than any other occupation and they use the exact same drugs what they claim to cure your problem... And how come we have sooo many "good and effective" drugs, but we still have more diseases and people suffering with depression and panic attacks than ever and it seems to get worse...
i had panic attacks for over 10 years, but now im free of them, without using any medicine. It took me so long to discover thet the actual problem is inside my mind, my thougts and my lifestyle.
    1) Forwells mentioned meditation...this is very good thing to do..if you can, try Vipassana meditation, you can attent courses all over the world and its free of charge.
    2) Try hypnosis. for example Instant-Hypnosius, you can find it from internet and download mp3 hypnosis sessions, thats what i did...
    3) Raw food - healthy body = healthy mind
    4) Fasting - calming your body and mind, eliminating doxins
    5) give up doxins like coffee, alcohol, smoking, junk food, proccessed food, salt, sugar, white flour...
    6) MC2 Method - google it, the main idea is to not try to supress your panic, but just let it be as it is. just observe, without any judgement...
    7) Exercise - Yoga, dancing etc.
    8) Louise Hay - learn how to love yourself
    9) Law of attraction
